Re: How Much Longer
Stack is a smart guy. He clearly knows the game, but unfortunately he's seen the world through NBA glasses. He simply discounted the difficulty in recruiting a roster like he wanted to Vanderbilt. Take Texas for instance, they also don't have a bunch of shooters, but they can hammer you into the gro...

Re: Random ruminations the morning after
Stack needs to go sit in Coach Lea's office and discuss how he and Barton are building a roster. Coach Lea understands the challenge. Coach Stack does not. You have to recruit the right kind of person, not just the right set of skills and talent. That's not to diminish our current players. That's to...

Re: How old are the people on this board?
76, class of '68 .... Now it's $$$$$ and every man for himself..... the collegiate game has nothing, and is doomed unless some change is forthcoming. I probably won't live to see it, if it happens at all. Hi Pete: I'm sure this is best left to a separate thread, but I've thought about this a lot. T...

Re: a little less positive vibe - but still seeing progress
As the freshmen begin to play a lot more, the overall roster makeup looks healthier than it did two weeks ago when I was hyper critical of the gaps. We still need 2 shooters and 2 ball handlers, assuming we keep our team intact at the end of the season. I'm still for Stack. Every single season we're...

Re: There's a lot of terrible teams
..... Also, TB is now 45 and not 40. The man is pretty old for an NFL player, probably the oldest of all-time. I head that he has now spent more of his life as an NFL player than not. How incredible is that?!?! At least the Cowboys gave him a few extra weeks to reflect and rest. So thoughtful of th...

Re: How the AP ranked TCU #2....
Before the playoffs were played, I had them down as Georgia, Michigan, tOSU and TCU. After, it's Georgia, tOSU, Michigan and TCU. tOSU was the closest talent wise to Georgia. Michigan outplayed and outcoached tOSU this year, but didnt' quite stack up talent wise. Michigan completely overlooked TCU a...

Re: Stackhouse
Don’t sell Wright short….if he was 100%, he is as close to a complete player as anyone. He can shoot and defend and if he was healthy, we would be much more competitive! I'm fine having one or two projects or hunches, but again, I'm not building a team with Wrights. Can be ball? He's certainly comp...

Re: Stackhouse
I've been in the process of further refining my critique. It's not coaching. It's roster management. I've noted in another thread that I think you need 6 guards, 4 shooters and 3 bigs. I believe each position has a fundamental set of attributes that are non-negotiable. Everything else makes that pla...

Re: Game Thoughts and Whatnot
I'll keep it simple. Our shooting percentage as a team is around #250 in the nation. Stackhouse doesn't have a clear roster strategy. Here's how I see it with a 13 man roster: 1. You need 6 guards that can handle a rock, see the floor and move their feet. One or two of those you want to be able to s...

Re: My take on the CJS regime
It does seem like he's running out of excuses. In year 4 we should be able to be effective on the court. At the beginning of the season, he claimed to have what he needed to win. Well, I think the answer may be that he doesn't actually know how to win with what he has on the court. He does a lot rig...

Re: Recruiting Ranking
Rankings matter somewhat. No argument there. So in our case, it comes down to how well we project that 3* talent. I think most people in here felt like the first real class proved to be legit. I suspect this one will also. One or two more of these classes and we'll be competitive in most games. On p...

Re: Our Schedule is about to get brutal
Generally a Stack fan, but at this point, it just doesn't feel like there's a good plan. Well, actually, it seems like the plan from jumpstreet was to get a lot of long athletic guys to pressure teams defensively and then let players dribble penetrate and pass out for open threes. In the preseason, ...

Re: Benson gets silly on VU visit; Udeogu says he will commit this week
One point to make in this is that Coach Prime is really a problem for other SEC coaches, not so much us. There may be a time when we're recruiting the same guys, but I'm not worrying about that right now.

Re: CJS sends unprofessional Twitter message to fan
So, why are fans to be held to a lesser standard when things aren't going well? Takes a big person to insult or heckle someone from the safe distance of Twitter. I think restraint is a two-way street. Why is it always on one person to "act better"?. Grown men getting all over a coach of c...

Re: Recruiting And Future Success?
I have very little critique of our staff. I was we were more creative with the offense, but that's nitpicking. A lot of the freshmen played this year. That tells you that we're recruiting better talent.
