Alabama quarterback paid 7 figures already and he has never played
According to the SEC Media Days, the new projected starting quarterback for Alabama has been paid “seven figures” (which would be over a million dollars) by companies he’s advertising with to promote their products. He’s never played one single down in college football. He was a five star but a lot ...

Value of a good catcher like C.J. is invaluable
It will be sad losing C.J. The plays he made as catcher were incredible. Several times his throws to second to catch runners trying to steal were perfect and the opposing team’s runners were dumbfounded that the second baseman or shortstop had the ball before they even started sliding. I was at the ...

OT: Which ex-Vanderbilt player now in MLB is in the best situation?
College baseball is over so I turn my attention to the pros. I used to be an adamant MLB fan. I memorized all the stats of all the players. I went to Braves games, spring training games in Florida and Sounds games regularly. Then they had the strike in the 90’s and I started losing interest. Then th...

We swung at bad pitches all game
The first inning, Bradfield had a 3-2 count and swung at ball four to strike out. The next two batters took pitches and walked. Our next batter swung at a low pitch and grounded into a double play. The rest of the game, when Bednar was pitching, when we took pitches we drew a few walks, but most of ...

Re: What’s with the ump meetings and then replay checks
Why did the ump start off the game with a talk to Harding? One would think that if he was going to act spasmodic before the pitch that he should do the same every time. If that was the reason for the visit, ump didn't get the message across. And why wasn't the MSU coach involved? I had the TV sound...

What’s with the ump meetings and then replay checks
The games take too long because of the countless ump meetings and then replay checks. Anytime there’s a questionable call, why do all six umps have to meet and talk about it for five minutes? What do the umps in the outfield have to say about whether the Mississippi State player fouled a ball off hi...

Corbs’ answers when he’s interviewed are hilarious
Corbs had me laughing again tonight when he was interviewed in between innings.
The ESPN announcer asked him if he started thinking ahead in his mind.
Corbs said “My mind can’t think like that. I just take it one inning at a time.”
It was a stupid question and Corbs’ answer was hilarious.

Re: Biden is behind it
There were a lot of Democrats and liberal media.... yada,yada,yada... Are you the same poster trying to scapegoat our minority A.D. for Joe Fisher's situation? I didn’t “scapegoat” her, I said one mistake shouldn’t have cost him his job. Whether she is a minority or not is not the issue and I would...

Re: Biden is behind it
I think they were being sarcastic. Yeah, belair was being sarcastic. The dumbing down of our entire population due to politics has come down to: Pre-election: I'm not taking the vaccine when it becomes available because Trump made sure it went through quickly and it's not safe. Trump's an idiot. Po...

“It’s not fair!”
The ESPN announcers just had a dialogue in which they basically whined and bellyached about how unfair it was that N.C. State had to drop out of the CWS. “They lost 23-1 to Arkansas, the number one team in the nation, and then came back and won two straight to get to Omaha! Then they won convincingl...

OT: Aluminum bats or wood bats in college?
This has been debated ad nauseum, but what does everyone think? In college they allow aluminum bats. But when you get to the majors (or minors) they are not allowed. Batters have to adjust to wooden bats. The issue was that line drives off aluminum bats can seriously injure or even kill pitchers. Th...

Re: VU picks Joe Fisher's replacement(s)
Generally speaking (not specific to Vandy) is it commendable to show up 5hit-faced (alcohol or drugs) to the workplace? What would most employers do? Is there usually a clause in a person's employment contact forbidding such at most places? (plus that article sounds like the athletic director handl...

Re: VU picks Joe Fisher's replacement(s)
IMG is a third-party agency/selection committee which chose Kevin Ingram and the others. But it is my understanding that ADCSL told Fisher to resign or he would be fired. The university was paying his salary and they have the right to fire him. After Mason was fired. Joe Fisher made critical remarks...

Re: VU picks Joe Fisher's replacement(s)
Joe Fisher was the best. I hate that ADCSL replaced him. Who is "ADCSL" - ? I always heard something on the broadcasts about something called "IMG Sports" determining who does the announcing for Vanderbilt University sports. Maybe "IMG" and "ADCSL" mean the s...

Re: VU picks Joe Fisher's replacement(s)
Joe Fisher was the best. I hate that ADCSL replaced him. Everyone makes mistakes. Joe’s mistake shouldn’t have cost him his job. One of the most amazing play by play football guys was Eli Gold, who used to do play by play for Alabama. He would go to the Alabama games and do play by play for them, th...

But he mooned a female trainer. She sued UT and they settled out of court. That probably cost the university a pretty penny.oakparkDore wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 7:31 pm Peyton is one of very few to never be charged with a felony.

Re: US Supreme court just hammered the last nail in the NCAA coffin
1. Schools in small conferences like Conference USA definitely will be financially affected by this. Schools like MTSU won’t be able to afford this. 2. As far as the argument about what happens in baseball, what about the minor leagues? I have always wondered how minor league teams don’t get sued. T...

OT: Something that annoys me about the coverage of UT
During every UT game in the CWS on ESPN they played this skit where Peyton Manning is calling Vitello and telling him he’ll be ready to pitch. Then they both yell “Omaha!” at each other. If I was a UT fan I’d be upset about this. The mentality they are giving is that the only good athlete to ever co...

Re: Corbin’s pep talk??
The ESPN TV commentators put the headphones on him and interviewed him before the next inning and asked him, “What did you say to your team?” He said, “Nothing I can say here.” I thought that was funny.
