Re: In a year in which the SEC is the best EVER in baseball, a chance to win the tourney

Just go out and play good baseball and have fun - hopefully winning. We were focused, but loose yesterday. Hope we are again today. For whatever reason, FL looked tight yesterday -- in the field anyway. 3 errors, including the throw from the P to 3B in inning #1 which makes my list of "Top 10 ...

CTC has managed pitching staff well this tournament in order to have Maldo ready for just this moment.

They have to score at least 20 to run rule us. There’s that.

I’m watching A&M and Ark. 1-0 thru 4. The pitching depth of these 2 squads is impressive.

Re: VU reportedly still out looking at transfer portal options

I know this sounds crazy - but we have so many players of Lawrence's basic profile (albeit none as experienced). If I could choose, I might take a legit big over Tylaw returning. They may fit Lawrence's basic profile, but I bet though don't perform nearly as well. Plus, he knows the offense. No, I ...

And will likely re-gain the DH spot for the rest of the year. I wish he could play first, Polk could DH, and Noland could sit (at least against lefties).

Re: Alabama SEC game

If Schultz finishes, I think he qualifies for a save. I didn’t check but it may be the first this season.

Is Noland the weakest cleanup batter in the SEC? Answer: no, Bulger is, but it’s close.

Re: A. Dutkanych ??

He’s been day-to-day for the past 475 days. Had he not gotten injured I feel he would have been a key contributor by this point in the season, possibly filling in for one of our injured starters. It’s a shame, really. Too many players, pitchers in particular, have seasons interrupted for many weeks....

Re: Tonight’s pitching

I see no reason why Futrell couldn’t go 3 or 4 innings. He hasn’t been spectacular lately. He may have some kinks to work out. Obviously I don’t know how his arm “feels”. If he’s tired that’s a different discussion.

I predict we’ll start Espy today. I have little confidence in the offensive punch of either catcher.

We’ll be fortunate to keep him. He’s apparently a “late bloomer” in football, and his comments didn’t sound to me like he was 100% anchored down for the long haul.

So if we beat Alabama today we get to use even more pitchers tomorrow. And play Florida again to boot? What a prize!!
