Dec. 5 is the first day that players who played in 2022 can OFFICIALLY enter the transfer portal, so it's possible we may see a flurry of announcements today. As of this moment, Vandy's number stands at five who have declared publicly: RB Ray Davis, RB Rocko Griffin, TE Joel DeCoursey, S Chase Lloyd...

P.S. It appears that Vanderbilt has moved Anchors coach Jimmy Thompson into the slot for recruiting that was held by suspended DBs coach Dan Jackson. We'll see whether that sticks or not, but meanwhile, Lea hasn't let any grass grow under his feet in filling that slot for recruiting.

Vandy coaches were disappointed when target Randon Fontenette, a hard-hitting 6-1, 190 safety for Freeport-Brazosport (Texas) HS, committed to Utah in the summer; but he later de-committed and threw open his recruiting. He has already made an official visit to Vandy (in June), but he now has offers ...

I'm thinking the coaches must have known this was coming... coincidentally or not, they had two uncommitted RB prospects in for official visits this weekend (see previous post).

So far all is quiet on that front, however.

I don't think Vandy has been too worried about hanging onto Junior Sherrill (WR commit from state champion Lipscomb Academy), as he has family connections to Vanderbilt. However... His coach Trent Dilfer, the new coach at UAB as of Friday, has extended Sherrill an offer... the lure to play in a fami...
