VandyBoy homers

JJ Bleday and Bryan Reynolds both homered yesterday. Reynolds even got an "Anchor Down" from the Pirates announcer.

Re: So fact or fiction?

I had a Business Law class that had the case where they sentenced an elephant to death for killing its trainer. There was even a picture of the townfolk trying to hang the elephant from a big crane. Crane broke. Go figure. They still killed him. Deterrent to other elephants thinking about murdering ...

Schreck's home run

For those watching on TV or listening to radio, what was the explanation for the umpires delaying the game after Schreck's home run? I saw him motioning, it appeared , toward the ky bench when he was between 1st and 2nd. What was going on? Kentucky coach bitching about everything.

Re: a painful memory

We also played Michigan at the beginning of the 1976-1977 season, if my memory is right. Charles Davis was a freshman and one of the Michigan players was being really rough with Charlie D. He reached his limit and BOOM, down went Frazier. I'm sure he was kicked out of the game, but in those days you...

Vandy moves up a spot in D1

With #2 Stanford losing 3 out 4 this week, they drop to 9th. #2 thru #9 all move up one spot. That means we go from #7 to #6. If we could string 2 hits together, we might be pretty good. But, we are not a good hitting team. Don't look at our team offensive stats and compare it to other SEC teams. Ju...

Re: The last time Vandy beat KY up there but lost at home . . .

We did beat KY in Lexington in both of those years. We won 4 in a row against them in 2006 and 2007.

Re: Ambidextrous Pitcher

Found the answer. We did have a switch pitcher. Aubrey McCarty was a freshman pitcher in 2015. He threw 6 innings, giving up 2 H, 2 BB and 6 K. His ERA was 3.00 and BAA .095. He also was a switch hitter, getting one single in 6 AB's for a .167 avg. He transferred out after that season.

Ambidextrous Pitcher

I was reading about the Missy State freshman pitcher who is ambidextrous. Did Vandy not have an ambidextrous pitcher several years ago or am I thinking about someone in MLB? Whoever it was had a special made glove that went both ways. I sure hope ambidextrous means what I think it means. If not, at ...

Re: What should have happened?

Tom Schuberth was the 1st one I remember getting the BOO treatment everytime he touched the ball. Probably happened for 3 years. Can't remember the details anymore, but it seemed he was involved in an altercation or had committed a hard foul. Seems it was Charles Davis, the last player on those team...

Re: Saw my first game at Memorial Gym 50 years ago tonight

My first Vandy game was Davidson, but I had been there before for a March of Dimes game between Ryan and Dupont. That was somewhere around '64 - '67.

Re: Saw my first game at Memorial Gym 50 years ago tonight

My first live game was Dec 12, 1967 against Davidson coached by Lefty Driesell. Tommy Gun Hagan had the game winner on a last second shot. They defeated UNC, Davidson and Duke in a 8 day stretch.
