Re: Point guard.
Was also surprised by Shelby's limited minutes. Dia was out with I believe a sprained ankle, along with Stute. Wouldn't expect to see them suit up. Thought Ansong looked solid! Lawrence looks good, but that was often the case against lesser competition. Too limited of a sample size to say that he im...

Re: Anyone hear any recruiting news?
That would be nice, but seems unlikely at this point.
One would think the vast majority of players that fit that criteria have been swooped up. Couple that with the required academics and it's likely slim pickings.

Re: Anyone hear any recruiting news?
Coen Carr is another recruit we've been after pretty heavily; https://247sports.com/player/coen-carr-46115688/ - took an official on June 15th and has been picking up more offers since (LSU, South Carolina). We'll see. Given the Europe trip is coming up this week, I think news on the recruiting fron...

Re: Adrian Samuels?
Yup, understanding is he's a PWO. He's got good size for a combo guard (6'5). Hopefully we don't need to rely on him seeing meaningful minutes on the court, but seems like a great guy to root for in mop up time.

Re: Isaiah West picks Vandy
Awesome get, we've been after him forever. Per Jason's other post, there's seemingly a logjam at the PG position and it's inevitable that we're going to see some transfers at the 1. We need some large SG that can also play the 3 next!

Re: Thoughts on our open scholarship for 2022-23?
Agreed, I hope we don't use it, unless it's:
a) someone with 1 year of eligibility remaining.
b) a touted transfer who has a late de-commit (doubtful at this stage)
c) a Dezonie return (don't see that happening)

Crystal Ball for Transfer PG Ezra Manjon
Noticed 247 dropped a crystal ball prediction of Ezra Manjon committing to Vandy... https://247sports.com/Player/Ezra-Manjon-46055740/ PG out of UC-Davis, 2 years of eligibility remaining. 5'11, 170 - averaged 15, 3.6 Reb and 3.4 Assist last year. 20% 3pt FG%, but 43% overall. I am ok with this guy,...

Re: Shane Dezonie reportedly in the transfer portal
I forgot about QMB, 100% a win there. I honestly can't keep track anymore there are so many changes year to year. Agreed, having a full class (or 2/3rds of it) leave is not a recipe for success. Hopefully 2022 bucks that trend. Regarding the 2022 class, they're now up to #20 (I think was ~24/25 prev...

Re: Shane Dezonie reportedly in the transfer portal
This one stinks. I really liked his upside. In the age of the transfer portal, we should be able to upgrade this position, but Stack's transfer record so far is mixed. We've definitely had some wins (Robbins, Chatman, will put Mann here too) and some L's (Frank, Jankovic, Moyer, DJ Harvey - was that...

Jamaine Mann enters the transfer portal
Reported by Rivals.. https://twitter.com/jakelieberman2/status/1507425611769253890?s=20&t=Z5kAFNLrAovXHGvidcxUWQ Not the one I'd want to go. Feel like he had a good role and brought the right type of toughness to this team. Hopefully we can backfill with an even better player out of the portal. ...

Re: Transfer Portal Question
I believe that's correct. My understanding is any player who has transferred using their covid year transfer would have to sit out a year if going elsewhere. If there's a loophole to get around sitting out a year, I'm not aware of it.

Re: Next Year’s Roster
Agreed on points about Dorsey, I don't see the jump that Stack's describing being likely (at least not in year 2). I would gladly see us bring in a combo guard/PG like LLewellyn for a year in exchange for Dorsey's slot (no offense to Dorsey), just flagging that Stack's comments could imply he expect...

Re: Next Year’s Roster
That's interesting. We know that Scotty will at least be testing the waters to see where he stands. There have been posts before stating he's gone if it's looking like he's a late first round pick. If Scotty were to leave, we'd only need one other slot in order to accommodate for the incoming freshm...

2023 PG Isaiah West names his top 10
Worth noting that while 247 has him listed as 6'1, the article mentions him being 6'3. Hopefully not a typo, as that's pretty good size for a combo guard. Rivals has him at 6'3 as well. He's currently listed as a 4 star, top 60 prospect according to 247, 3 star, #134 on Rivals. Big discrepancy there...

Re: Great Win
LSU sold out to doubling SPjr and indeed he was 0-6 from three, only 7 points for the game. But he also had 4 steals and 9 assists and VU won. Game-Set-Match. Great point - we did it without Pippen needing to score 20+, let alone double digits. Also, it was great to see SPJ with a 9:2 Assist to TO ...

Re: Millora Brown
Agreed, some great minutes from him tonight and really played tough against one of the best big men in the country. If he can get more aggressive on offense and improve his FT% 10-15 percentage points (and yes, get into Owen) he is capable of taking his game another step forward. Would love to see it.

Re: Stack's Post Game Presser
If those four freshman who are considered “a top ten recruiting class in the US” cannot make the postseason, then we need a new coach. I’ve watched film and read about each one and I can see those 4 + Liam being our starting five. Not sure who you’re quoting there, but I haven’t seen this class ref...

Re: Stack's Post Game Presser
I like Stack. I think we could have done better, but we could have done a lot worse too. VU was never going to pay the price for a great coach. My biggest concern is his game and clock management in close games down the stretch. Last night and the SC game were an F-. He had 2 timeouts in his pocket...

Re: Frustrated
We were at the game. There was not a "sea" of orange in the student section. Maybe 20 orange-clad fans, but no big group. Most of the student section had fans with dark clothes. There were a lot of UT fans there. A game Vandy should have won. Glad to hear from your perspective that wasn't...
