Re: Hustler: analysis of AAMU game, plus player profile of Will Sheppard
I really like this he way Sheppard takes control in the end zone when the throws come his way. I would like to see more dependable hands from him when the ball is thrown high over his head. I'm not sure how to coach making those types of catches when the ball hits his fingertips. I think that improv...

Re: NILs
A sad commentary on our modern world. Profit above all else.
Let's do away with any reference to "student-athlete" once and for all. It is way past time.

Re: Podcast: James Franklin talks about leaving VU & the commitment level
This 60 year fan and legacy alumnus is always stunned by the vitriol directed at Franklin. He did exactly what every and any head coach does in the slimy world of college athletics- (ne professional sport minor leagues). He bolted when he got a better offer, as did his recruits. The fact that he was...

I absolutely agree. There just was nobody like Munson, and nobody I ve ever heard since who compares.

Re: Legitimate concerns
The NCAA board of directors approved the portal period without a whimper . They rolled and caved, whether from fear of legal issues or from back room money. Either way, they gave In willingly, from what I have read. They certainly knew and well understood the ramifications of their decision. And max...

Re: Legitimate concerns
Bigger problem to me is the overall focus away from any real team loyalty among players. The NCAA has chosen money over everything else. As have coaches and players. College sports have finally acquiesced-officially. And the rich will get richer-the rest will decline and eventually fold their progra...

The tenor of this discussion is really unbelievable to me.
Bravo Saban for showing some guts and moral fiber.

Re: OT - NYT: A Fourth Alabama Player Was at a Deadly Shooting, in a Car Hit by Bullets
Have we forgotten that we are discussing being at the scene of a murder? The lady is DEAD. Suppying a gun used in the murder? And no consequences from the University? You cannot be serious about that. Seeing the reality of "win at all costs" is pretty shocking. And I believe our ex-pres Bi...

Re: Vanderbilt vs. Miss State
It doesn't, not at all. I have to think that, as usual, the money that goes with " big" school supporters figures into all of these decisions. Same with bowl games and bowl matchups. VU has long been a "small" school, an academically-oriented outlier among NCAA "powers"...

Re: A look at the preseason top 25
Im sure my thoughts are generational to a point. But slavish allegiance to computer metrics is absurd in this case. I would wager that the NET somehow magically disappears from the discussion next season. Unfortunately we may still suffer a screwing from it this season.

Re: Southern Miss - Who was the genius...
I for one was very impressed during the game with Haase and his talent, especially shooting and mobility, and several of his teammates looked capable as well. I was certainly puzzled by the reaction of forumites to the loss. They looked like a pretty solid, cohesive bunch. Guess they are after all.

Re: Game thoughts
I have to strongly agree about Franklin, I would need to see evidence of this coverup. Im not sure we have all the details . I feel sure that if he were clearly complicit in the crime after the fact, that he would have been charged. I for one give him benefit of the doubt. And I also appreciate his ...

Re: Colin Smith/Noah Shelby Injured?
I am resigned to the fact that I, personally, have little understanding of much of this modern world. If the head coach says, "take better shots, first look for your teammates before you shoot"-Uh, if I want to play, why wouldn't I do exactly that? "I want to see you commit to playing...

Re: Honest question
Not trying to mix it up here, just a comment or two. First , injuries happen and we don't have details. But what I see is a lack of playing time for the freshmen, or so it seems. That is on the coaching staff- a difficult problem , discussed here often. That is a coaching decision. And without a hos...

Re: The talent is there
I have to comment here. Until someone can verify that admission to VU is more difficult now than in past decades, using the academic limitations argument may not be valid. Skinner, Newton, Fogler, Stallings had significant success during many of their years. VBK results were not terrible. Drew was s...

Re: Just going to go ahead and say it…
Well we all have our opinions, and I was not able to see the game. I was able to see clips of the play in question. The call was missed, the gesture was inconsequential. Our coach was right to protest, within reason. However, the degree of disruption and the free FTs hurt our team's chances, and was...
