Re: New Commit - Darren Agu

This class will probably be the best since 2013. Huge difference is the 13 class came after a 9 win bowl season. We made the right hire. Imagine what is possible after some wins.

Re: NIL

With basically unrestricted NIL and the expansion to a 12 team playoff by 2026 - which IMO is a just a Trojan horse to go to a 16 team playoff - I think college football is already on a trajectory where a lot of power 5 schools and maybe a handful of group of 5 schools like UCF or a Cincinnati set u...

Re: NIL

One thing I haven’t heard mentioned is what happens when a star QB gets a gig sponsoring Draftkings or some other gambling entity? Looks like the NCAA has no jurisdiction in states that legalized NIL by statute.

Re: State fans threw beer on me and my son

What I've heard state fans are being complete garbage, I used to pull for them against Ole Miss and the putrid orange but from now on I'll be neutral at best.

Re: Playoff Expansion

Another thing, college football ratings reached a plateau about ten years ago. Using gimmicks etc. is not going to work - see Nascar.

Re: Playoff Expansion

There is no reason to expand it to 12 other than $$$$. I can see arguments for 6 but 12 is a complete cash grab, at that point as someone previously said might as well drop the word student from student athlete, also just go ahead and pay them directly and call the power 5 the NFL taxi squad.

Playoff Expansion

This week there has been some smoke about expanding to 12 teams. I personally think its too many, IMO it should be 6 with power 5 champs and 1 at-large or at most 8 with the power 5 champs, 3 at-large with one being the best from the group of 5 if there is one in the top 10. Under the 12 format you ...

Re: SEC tourney pitching

At this point I think you conserve (not preserve) the ace pitchers' arms for the NCAA tourney. No use going more than 40-50 pitches unless its the final game for the SEC Tournament championship then you may want to go more but even then I would think Omaha is more important than Hoover.

Re: Site plan for new facilities leaked

Well Auburn has spent $90 million on a new football complex which has some cool essential components but also includes superfluous barber shops, a flight simulator and “recording studios.”

Re: Tupelo Honey Festival

My bad. I assumed the festival would be in Tupelo. Good thing I didn't book my room yet. 😀😀😀😀😀 It’s actually really good if you like honey, we were off the beaten track about 20 years ago and went through Wewahitchka and by chance this festival was going on. Basically honey, boiled peanuts and musi...

Ever since that classless act by the Louisville pitcher I find extra pleasure in the Vandyboys whipping that gang of thugs.

Now ranked a 3 star on 247, we moved up to 26th in ranking. A piece of useless trivia Wewahitchka is home to the Tupelo Honey Festival.

Re: Site plan for new facilities leaked

Also, it looks like the basketball building will be right on top of the Parmer Fieldhouse...I don't know the history of that building, will they have to pick it up and move it somewhere? From what I read on the VU site, the Parmer field house was constructed in 1922 coinciding with the “new” stadiu...

Re: OT: Practical NIL

Just to clarify, a question for those who think the licensing of the logo of a particular university is the end all be all of NIL marketing, let’s say in 2019 Joe Burrow of LSU fame, MEETING the standards of my original post, decides to endorse a business in Baton Rouge La. without any LSU logos but...

OT: Practical NIL

With Name, Image and Likeness compensation being in the news, IMO one easy start would be for college football players who have achieved junior level academically, or age 21, should be able to market their NIL, here’s why, these players are eligible for the NFL draft but a vast majority will never s...

Good get! All 4 commits now listed as solid 3 stars on 247, looks like this staff is very good at identifying talent early.
