Re: waking up 2-0
It's great to be 2-0. The alternatives of either 1-1 or 0-2 against the competition so far would be quite disheartening. But, at the same time, AAMU is a much better opponent from the FCS than some of the FBS programs that could have easily been on the schedule instead. Over the last few seasons, th...

Re: Here are your 2024 opponents
I'll be happy to see the book closed on the "SEC" as it has been on the SWC and Big 8, among others. The moniker is no longer applicable, nor is the spirit of the league. College football has changed, and continues to. We might as well accept it and let go of the past. I hate that I'm say...

Re: KICKOFF TIMES SET for first four games of 2023
Maybe it's just me, or unjustified optimism, but does anyone agree that this schedule looks somewhat positive? Playing all 4 OOC games up front, and being 6 games in before having to visit a stadium as hostile as Gainesville, followed by hosting Georgia, seems like a good opportunity for Coach Lea t...

Re: Miami, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, UNC
The so-called "gentleman's alliance" of Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina to band together to keep any of their in-state rivals from coming into the conference is probably virtually toothless now. The money that is being thrown around, and the other factors like NIL, expansion...

Re: 2024+ schedule (premium)
I feel pretty confident we're going to see a 9-game, 3 permanent/6 rotating schedule approved later this spring. The money associated with such a move will put it over the top. What I wonder more about is whether the league will then drop the requirement that every member has to play at least one P...

Re: 2024+ schedule (premium)
And totally end any hope of us EVER going to a bowl again. No. I understand that’s always going to be the argument against it. But in a 10-game scheduling scenario, the opportunity would be to play 5 permanent opponents and to rotate the other 10 teams over 4 years, home and away. If Vandy drew a p...

Re: 2024+ schedule (premium)
I think this question is moot, because 9 games is going to be unpopular with many schools, but would anyone be open to 10 SEC games to keep a balanced schedule (5 home/5 away)? And totally end any hope of us EVER going to a bowl again. No. I understand that’s always going to be the argument against...

Re: And here's your first bracketologist with Vandy in first four out
Less than 3 more regular season wins probably means a couple of wins in the SEC-T, unless some of the teams around Vandy implode a bit. Getting into the dance, even if just barely, will be a good accomplishment and a confidence boost to the team/program. Getting in and winning the first round will b...

Re: It's official: George MacIntyre's recruiting has blown up
There are four year starters who never get an invitation to the Combine and can’t draw a scout to their pro day. It’s a different time from Vincent Jackson’s day, and with early entry to the draft, the wait to start isn’t always what it seems. Hurts did okay for himself after losing the starting pos...

Re: 2024+ schedule (premium)
I would expect Vanderbilt to draw Tennessee/Kentucky/South Carolina, but the South Carolina selection could wind up being anybody, really. I really miss the annual Alabama game, but I don't wish it to return because I want to see both teams do well. Some long-standing rivalry games are going to be l...

Re: Saban Rejects Players Asking for Big NIL Deals
I think what I’ve heard Saban say about NIL is that it should be earned on the field, and a new recruit hasn’t earned anything. Obviously, the genie is out of the bottle in regard to outside entities ponying up NIL money to an unproven player, but when the player comes to the university to arrange a...

If construction will not be completed by fall, will the stadium be completed to a point for use in the 2023 season or will home games be played elsewhere?

Re: Decade of the Dawg?
Georgia was a dominating team this year and last, but the biggest stage of all had all the appearances of an old fashioned heavyweight boxing match between the champ and the bum of the month. It certainly made the Dawgs look like the greatest of all time, but it makes me wonder how many other SEC te...

Re: Military Bowl...Duke vs. UCF
Bowls survive and thrive on TV contract money and corporate sponsorships. I have no current numbers but a decade ago a lot of the empty seats in the lesser bowl games were paid for by corporate donors, but never used.

Re: How does Conference USA get better bowl locations than the SEC?
Bowl game destinations closer to the conference footprint reduced travel expense (for the fans and the athletics departments) and the more long-standing bowls have higher payouts, TV ratings, and name recognition. Of course, with the SEC's footprint ever expanding, the Rose Bowl might not be out of ...
