Re: Our #1 Ranking

I notice that Nashville FC's team colors are gold. That can't just be coincidence.

I wonder if Ingram is trying to keep alive the possibility of Vandy buying our way in to share the soccer stadium

Re: A 3 point shooter--Ha

Ryan had a disappointing year no doubt. But then, other than Nesmith, who didn't? Agreed that Nesmith was our best player, and showed the most potential (not counting Garland, of course). But he (Nesmith) shot 39% from the field for the season. My pants remain dry. For a true freshman and some of t...

Agreed, Shittu wasn't used correctly, but the fact is he was good freshman in most programs/systems. He will be a better than average sophomore too, when taking out expectations.
How should he have been used?

Don't give up on him. I'm admittedly biased from following ND a little on the side, but I'm telling you. The kid can really shoot. He just needs to get his mojo back.

Here's hoping anyway.

Re: Sparks: Should Vanderbilt basketball keep or fire Bryce Drew? Pick a side

There is no evidence that Drew can coach at this level. 0 for in SEC? He like any coach will face challenges such as injuries in the future. Does he indicate an ability to deal with that ? Suffer the pain now and show him the door. If next year is anything like this year under CBD, Vandy will look ...

Re: WOW UT blew a chance to possibly finish first in SEC

Did you notice how eerily similar the end of this game ALMOST was to the VU game. The only difference was the outcome. Auburn had a 6 point lead with about 1:00 left. UT shoots and misses and Auburn gets the rebound. Pretty much game over. But tweet! The Auburn rebounder is whistled for a foul he su...

Any practice reports?

Do we have any, anywhere?
I don't see them on VUcommodores or here or in the premium side or anything?

Guys, c'mon. If anyone has heard or seen anything, please share.

Re: Could Vanderbilt fire coach Bryce Drew after dreadful season?

I say he should be fired. I've seen enough - and here's why. The Garland injury is actually irrelevant. This team did not improve collectively or individually. Bryce Drew did not find any way or scheme to grind out a single win in conference against teams with even INFERIOR talent (Texas A & M) . Th...

Re: Marve to Miss St?

These last-second defections prior to Spring practice is worrisome. This one is especially a head-scratcher. Is it a reflection on Tarver? Not sure. I think Marve really wanted to a look at DC when Tarver was hired. When I mentioned that we had assistant coaches getting courted by other schools, Ma...

Re: Coach Mason gets extension

I just can't see objectively, how Mason has not adapted his scheme and team. He may not be full out run and shoot, but the offensive scheme this year was very productive in spurts and mostly productive over the course of the year. I don't know if the extension was necessary, but I can't really find...

Re: Gdowski says not to expect too many changes in the offense

I happen to have spoken with Gdowski last year and one of the things that he made clear to me is that he would have loved having a QB who could run... but Shurmur just didn't run well, so that was that. Regardless of who starts at QB for us next year, I suspect quarterback runs will be more of a po...

Re: Coach Mason gets extension

Completely unnecessary. He's not being courted elsewhere, and he already had sufficient time left on his contract to avoid the appearance of a lame duck. The state of the defense is terrible. Wasn't there a happy medium between firing him and giving him a lengthy extension, such as simply leaving t...

Re: Gdowski says not to expect too many changes in the offense

I too thought our offense had its moments of productivity. And at times, I actually really liked Lud's playcalling. Not always, mind you. That said, I think the arrival of a couple of mobile qbs will really add a dimension to our offense. The structure is there and the plays are already there to tak...

Re: POLL: Lose out = fire coach?

ooof - it's a tough call. I have a feeling that if we actually do lose out some of us that are saying no will feel different about it. Projecting how I think I'll feel if we actually go winless in conference, which in your third year at a program is a near impossible thing to do, I'd have to say can...

I'm glad to hear this.
I think this grad transfer thing is really helping us.
These guys are coming in experienced and physically mature.
This guy sounds like he'll make a very positive impact.

I also like the our young guns in the defensive secondary.

Re: Where Did the Goldfather Sobriquet Originate?

It had to do with his wide brimmed had and overcoat that he would sometimes wear.

I agree that I think it was a Vandymaniac that started it.
