Re: Watching the Army - Navy game

Really like the Army uniforms. Maybe coach could go with the khaki pants and white tops for the military appreciation uniforms. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ELtrPJ-XUAELwfF?format=jpg&name=small The uniforms look good, but the Army team is lacking. The VandyBoys would make the substance match th...

Re: Projected starters

We'll see bout Cooper, his bat needs to be much much better.... outfield play was terrible this fall and there in lies the biggest problem Corbs has, too much loyalty to jr's and sr's that cannot play..... you'll be lucky to see Ray hit his weight.... BTW, that's the best lineup.... maybe you can m...

The information on the Hawkins Field centerfield scoreboard always had his home town as Staten Island, not Brooklyn.

Re: Not being greedy, but ...

...I wonder how many more games we would have won with above average middle relief pitching? With the maximum increase in wins being 12, the number you are asking about can't be very high. My guess is the game that caused Coach Corbin to recommend that he be fired (the Sunday Arkansas game) plus 2 ...

That is great. I wish he could have been more successful with the Yankees; he has quite a bit of company among MLB pitchers and position players who were able to achieve success everywhere except New York.

On the way to a Vanderbilt-Alabama basketball game in Tuscaloosa in 1974 (which we won on the way to an SEC championship), when I believe the legal drinking age was 18, the first stop made by two chartered buses for Vandy students was Mrs. Mize's place.

Re: Game odds

Betting on the game now (3:00pm CDT), the odds are 2.3 to 1 if you bet on the favorite (Vandy) and 1.9 to 1 if you bet on the underdog. The average of these two (2.1 to 1) means that the odds makers and their customers believe there is a 67.74% (2.1 / [2.1 + 1.0]) probability that VU will win the na...

Re: Best and worst of the year

I enjoyed the win over yellow haired thugs but my favorite win was over LSU 13- 3 when they had about twenty fans to our one. Not to over look the 18- 5 to Duke but my worst lose was to Arkansas when we had a two run lead going into the bottom of the nine. We put Brown in but we also put a lot of o...

Re: How will Corbin use Raby and Hickman?

Patrick Raby has had a great career at Vanderbilt. Corbin praises him and has kept him in the weekend rotation, even though he's moved him from #2 to #3 part way through the season. Unfortunately, his success has taken a dip the last half of the SEC season. Against the better offenses in the league...

If they cannot play any more tonight, is it game over (and we lose), or would play in this game be resumed tomorrow?

Doesn't VU have the tie-breaker by virtue of going 2 and 1 against Arkansas?

With a win on or about June 26. I like to see the Vandy Boys get recognition, even though the two years we made it to the College World Series final we were not in the top 8.

I'm sure Sonny Gray wants to remain as a starting pitcher, but there are several examples of pitchers who were starters early in their careers who became elite relief pitchers (eg, Mariano Rivera, Dave Righetti).

Sonny Scores

Sonny Gray scored the first run of his MLB career (in only his second time to be on base) tonight against Washington. In the part of duties that he performs for a living, he picked up another win.
