MTSU
Not looking good again. Down 4-3 going to the bottom of the 7th. We can't seem to do much of anything right.

Re: MTSU
Keep this game going. Even strike out to get to MTSU in the eighth.
If the game is called before the bottom of the eighth is finished, I believe the score will revert to the last complete inning ... and another 'Dores loss.

Re: MTSU
No. Always been a rule that if the home team is behind and doesn't get their at bat in the bottom of an inning, then the top of the inning doesn't count. A perfectly fair rule, but a harsh one for the team that just got a big rally. Similar to a trial. Prosecution examines the witness, recess, witness dies, none of the testimony counts since the defense didn't get a chance to cross.BWestbrook wrote:Is this a new rule?Versus75 wrote:Keep this game going. Re: MTSU
Guess what? If the game ends now we lose. It will revert back to the last full inning. Middle 4-3 in 7 Final

That was the rule in Major League Baseball through 1977. It was changed to not count unless the game can be played until completed on a later date.commadore wrote:No. Always been a rule that if the home team is behind and doesn't get their at bat in the bottom of an inning, then the top of the inning doesn't count. Game over for tonight
RULE 5
Regulation Game
SECTION 8. a. A regulation game shall be nine innings unless:
1) Extended because of a tied score (see 5-8-d);
2) Shortened because (a) the home team needs none or only part of its half
of the ninth inning or (b) the umpire calls the game after satisfying either
“b” or “c” below or 5-10 (Tie Game); or
3) Seven-inning games have been scheduled for a doubleheader by conference
rule or mutual agreement (see 5-7-d).
A.R. If a seven-inning game has been scheduled, the rules applying to the ninth
inning shall be applied to the seventh inning.
b. It shall be a regulation game if called by the umpire at any time after five
innings have been completed, and the score shall be that of the last equal
inning played....
Note: Exceptions generally relate to the home team leading. Joe is just now telling us that there will be no more baseball tonight. Whether the game is CALLED or POSTPONED to be determined.
