From the Jackson Clarion-Ledger:
Vanderbilt’s Mike Wright transferring to Mississippi State was among the more surprising moves this offseason considering the Bulldogs return senior quarterback Will Rogers.
Wright, who started 11 games with the Commodores, likely could have found a smaller program to start for. Instead, he came to MSU. During an open practice session on Thursday, it was evident why [OC Kevin] Barbay wanted him.
With Rogers shifted to receiver, Wright took his spot behind center for a run — a glimpse into ways MSU can use its new weapon.
“Without getting too specific, it’s about getting your best players on the field and the guys that can create explosive plays, no matter what 11 guys that is,” Barbay said. “We’ve messed with a few things. I think going forward, we’ll continue evaluating each week what explosive players we have.”

Vanderbilt won't have to line up against Mike Wright this season... but it will have to line up against former players Ray Davis (Kentucky) and Elijah McAllister (Auburn).

As in, exactly how we should have utilized Wright.

Exactly. Shared all kinds of thoughts on this last season. So many wrinkles could have been employed to make that offense more difficult to scheme for.
Alas…

We had both Wright and Swann/Seals in at the same time on various occasions. Perhaps MSU will do it a little more. Seems like a good way for Wright to burn a year of eligibility through limited playing time. When Rodgers is gone, Wright will be a one year option, probably to be supplanted by a new kid with more eligibility.
