OT: I know it seems like i pick on Watson Brown

a lot. I don't mean to. I really appreciate what he did as player, asst. coach, even head coach. (Btw, my late Dad thought he should have been given 1 more year with the coaching staff he had assembled.The SMU game sealed his fate.) But when it sounds like he is saying "College athletics was 'amateur' until NIL & the transfer portal." And i know he's not nearly the only one.

My take: big-time college athletics, especially football, has not been "amateur" for 50 years, Heck, there were "$50 dollar handshakes" in the 50s. And that was when $100 was some pretty good money.
