Hewitt is a good player. We’ll need him next year. He’s a positive.

Not a knock on Polk either - but you absolutely can’t take out Bradfield or Schreck…

Hewitt was clutch last year, but has been in a funk almost all season. Summer league will do him well.

Did he get banged up early in the year? He has struggled some - but I am still confident he will turn it around.

I agree about summer league. But I sure don’t want him losing confidence about his future here - I am guessing Coach doesn’t either.

The first 2-3 weeks of the season Hewett consistently hit the ball hard. Then it just kinda stopped. He is a good player, but he has been in an extended funk at the plate.

There is contact when you have to have contact. Good guys up 5….

And Enrique being on base leads to another - good guys up 6.

Pitching has been really good today. Owen wasn’t lights out sharp - but he looked healthy. Good job by Schultz and Ginther. I am guessing no Maldo for the ninth?

That is what I'm remembering.

If I remember correctly, he got hit in the hand and left a game and slumped significantly afterwards. Not sure if it was coincidence - or if he was playing hurt for a while? Guess we’ll never know. But Polk has been very good.

We win, 9-3.
Meanwhile, Auburn trying to do us a favor, leading SC 6-1 in the 4th.
Make that 8-1 in the 5th.

Been in person both games. Good atmosphere and players and fans having fun. Glad to be here. James Franklin seated a few rows down and getting some fan drop bys. Need to sweep this series.

When someone does us a favor and beats them, I'll include that too. BUT, going into the weekend, SC was in first by a half game. WE are now up a game and a half on SC and 2 on the gators.

I believe Vanderbilt's goal should be to win as many of the remaining games as possible and finish the pre-NCAA tournament portion of the season in the top 8 nationally. Teams to be "worried about" are the teams that can play the biggest role in determining whether VU meets that goal. Florida is a bigger source of worry than South Carolina only because VU has not played against Florida yet.
