Some VU HS commitment highlights from Week 2

Post by BrentVU »

On the first play of his senior season, Tristen Brown (Lamar, TX) returned the opening kickoff for a TD... and things only went uphill from there. Lamar pounded Beaumont West 51-7...
Ensworth (Jaren Sensabaugh) defeated MBA for the first time in five years last night, 17-3... here's VU commit Jaren Sensabaugh making a TD catch... he'll play on defense for Vanderbilt, and the Ensworth defense was dominating...

Pearl-Cohn is off to a surprising 2-0 start with wins over MBA and CPA (which beat Brentwood Academy last week)... Vandy has no commits from Pearl-Cohn for 2024 but would love to have juniors CB Joshua Sims or OL/DL Tyler Garcia (or both).

With 21 commitments in the can for 2024, not too many 2024 offers are going out these days, but one went out this week to Gregory Smith III, a QB/FS from Riverview-Sumner, FL... here he is making a very athletic interception last night...

Reminds me of the first game ever for Goodpasture. We played our first game against Joelton. Eddie Lee returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. We thought, man this is going to be easy. It was. For Joelton. 56-7. LOL

Dontae Carter, VU commit and senior DB from Cibolo (TX) Steele (the 11th-rated team in all of Texas), was named defensive player of the week by the San Antonio Express-Star. Carter had a De'Rickey Wright kind of game... he had two of the Knights’ five interceptions and made four solo tackles (six total) to go with one pass breakup in a 52-0 win against Brennan. Carter led a defense that surrendered just 74 yards and five first downs.

VU commit Guylijah Theodule is a 6-2 185 CB from Miami-Northwestern, FL. The highlights below (he wears No. 10) show him making an interception and rushing the passer from his CB spot for a TFL. Now the bad news: instate schools Florida and Miami have just this week both offered Theodule; we will have to see whether he will remain firm or not.
