Who else? Maybe Diaz at 3rd in a normal year, but EBjr was perhaps the best college outfielder I've ever seen.

And, by all indications, an excellent young man!

The story on vucommodores.com says he didn't commit an error all year. BUT, I distinctly remember a fly that he casually went over to and then dropped it. Do any of you remember this? Was it in post season?

I don’t recall an error, but it seems there was a soft fly with a man on first when Enrique didn’t get to the ball — or dropped it — but still got a force out a second base.

I believe Enrique will make the bigs because of his speed and defensive ability… and his batting will improve.
But Second Team All/SEC Outfielder makes sense when you look at the sluggers who were ranked ahead of him.
EBjr only hit .279 with 6 home runs. And despite a lot of walks, he was just third on the team in On Base Pct.
Related: I would like to see our fielding stats broken down by position (not necessarily CF/LF/RF). Davis Diaz’ fielding numbers at 3B were likely excellent (plus, he made some very tough plays), but his SS foibles really brought him down.

You can find that at vucommodores.com. Got to baseball, then stats. Has all the stats...hitting, pitching, fielding.Versus75 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:26 pm I believe Enrique will make the bigs because of his speed and defensive ability… and his batting will improve.

It’s a shame he didn’t make 1st team all-SEC, but he was against the best hitter in college baseball, Crews, from LSU. It would have been nice to put Crews as the DH, but he is a great player, as we will see in the MLB draft.

EBJ will forever be one of my all-time favorite VandyBoys. I'm gonna miss him so much.
Re: Your 2023 Gold Glove Winner...
It was recorded as a fielders choice. There was a man on first who had started to head back and Bradfield called off the other fielders to get the force out on second. While I’m not 100% sure I assume the chosen out was the more dangerous base runner. I am 100% sure that it was recorded as a fielders choice and not an error though.

If that’s the way that went down that’s some savvy gamesmanship.NateSY wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 9:16 pmIt was recorded as a fielders choice. So....any dropped fly with a runner on first can be scored a fielder's choice?

If the runner on first is forced out at second base, yes.3rdFloorDyer wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 9:52 am So....any dropped fly with a runner on first can be scored a fielder's choice?
