A quick summary:
Brandt was diagnosed in 2016 with a problem with his sternum.
He had been getting stem cell treatments in South America. Although he was still in constant pain.
He rested for 8 weeks at the end of the 2021-2022 PGA Season.
After playing in a tournament at the start of this season, he decided to have surgery.
He had a rare condition with limited surgical options.
The surgery was on December 1st and he didn't hit a golf ball until April 1st.
He is entered in the Memorial Tournament this week that is hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
He has 4 starts remaining on his minor medical exemption.

Thanks for that. He’s been through a lot, and probably doesn’t need the money. But he’s fighting to do what he loves. I admire the heck out of him and wish him the best. A wonderful ambassador for our university.

Brandt had a pretty good day on his first day back on the PGA tour. He shot a one-over 73. 3 bogies, one double bogey, and four birdies. He hit a lot of good shots and the round could have been a little better with some luck. Memorial is a tough course. 4 under is leading as of now. Notables that had rough outings today: Scottie Scheffler 74; Keegan Bradley 74; Justin Thomas 75; Jason Day 76. If Brandt has a good round two, he should make the cut, which would be outstanding. Go Vandy!
