Re: QMB in the transfer portal
I suspect a graduate situation worked out, or he decided to go ahead and finish his Master's this summer and move on.

Re: QMB in the transfer portal
Okay, I am starting to wonder what is going on. What would Wright or QMB stand to gain by transferring ? Both are smart young men doing well academically but can't believe either has a chance at the NBA. How does most any other school help them ? The number going to portal concerns me.
ps- Do the Ivys accept grad transfers ? If so then I could definitely see an upside possibility.

Re: QMB in the transfer portal
Hmmmm.
His late defection gives significant pause. Even if there are some unannounced new arrivals, I figured QMB had a solid role to fill as a leader/ambassador. His departure leaves five members of the 22-23 squad intact (assuming Lawrence withdraws from the draft and returns) with 3 freshmen inbound. Five roster spots to fill.
Really hope this means some positive news re: incoming transfers is imminent. Because alternatively, it begins to feel like a harbinger of doom. Just when things were really looking up.
I actually have a good feeling about landing Jason Rivera-Torres. Just a hunch.
But the roster is in dire need of a polished big or two.

As it stands, this roster needs a lot ! One experienced big is now a must and we really need a 3 point shooter who actually hits his threes. If Tyrin doesn't come back, I will tell my wife to hide all the sharp implements.

Re: QMB in the transfer portal
In isolation and without context, QMB's departure wouldn't be a big deal. He hustles his ass off and his academic achievements are a great story, but statistically we're not losing anything that can't be easily replaced in the portal. And viewed through the lens of the extra Covid year of eligibility, it's not that earth-shattering.
But within the context of the other roster losses and the fact that he said last month he was returning, yeah, it feels a lot worse.

I think we need to back off the ledge and wait for more information- which none of us are good at.

Ominous sounds about right. Going to miss Q. Trust he is smart enough to know what is best for him and his alma mater.

Does M.I.T. have basketball? Isn't he starting a doctorate in mechanical engineering?AuricGoldfinger wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 12:01 pm In isolation and without context, QMB's departure wouldn't be a big deal. Re: QMB in the transfer portal
I have been getting a lot of messages from recruiters these days. It would appear a lot of folks in the corporate world are also being asked to enter the transfer portal these days.
