Re: Quick look at Louisville, Vandy's first CWS opponent
Am I correct that their closer still has 2 more games to sit out because of his 4 game suspension?

You are correct. It might be a factor in the first game.

Louisville has given us lots of trouble in the post-season. We should be ready for a good contest.

Easy - got a new Google phone and service is poor on boat in Tennessee River and after watching VU win series in person at the Hawk - the phone and operator both are crazy. Sorry - also Don, the rule that you can't erase a comment replied to makes it impossible to delete the repeats .

I’m never happy about this match up... the midweek game was relatively non-painful but a loss wouldn’t have hurt either team in that game. Everything is on the line. Now I have to shove my Cards side into the sock drawer for a little while. I wish they reseeded for the CWS.

Does anyone know if Louisville has given us trouble in the postseason?
Seriously, that team was a clear standout over the weekend.

Re: Quick look at Louisville, Vandy's first CWS opponent
We've given as good as we've gotten over the years with Louisville, both regular season and post-season.
I believe the longest Vandy game ever played at The Hawk was with Louisville back in 2010, a 17 inning game ending with Esposito's walk-off home run.
A month later we went to the Louisville Regional and knocked them off in extra innings in the final game on the suicide squeeze by Connor Harrell.
They knocked us out in the Super Regional in Nashville in 2013.
We beat them in Omaha in either 2014 or 2015.
I don't know the overall W-L record with them but I'd guess it's pretty close to even.

As far as reseeding, I'm not sure that I'd want to play FSU or Michigan right now. In fact, all of the teams left look pretty dangerous.Cardsanddores wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:30 am I’m never happy about this match up... the midweek game was relatively non-painful but a loss wouldn’t have hurt either team in that game. True... it’s Omaha after all and everyone is there for a reason... I’d just rather not have the VU-UofL matchup at all or make me choose sides (easy choice- Dores) during the championship series! For me, it’s just an internal conflict.

Auburn trouncing UNC. One more SEC team advancing barring a miracle comeback by UNC.

4 of 8 from the SEC and 3 in one bracket.
Just like Hoover all over a gain, hope it ends the same way that did.

He finished serving the suspension, 2 games in the regional and 2 games in the super regional.
He'll be available to them for our game.

Oops, you are right. I thought the suspension happened in the final game of the regional, but it was with two games left. So they have played four games.
