Here is how to get Vanderbilt commits to sign with MLB

Post by commadore »

Xavier Edwards, #38, slot value $1,978,000, signs for $2,600,000
Will Banfield, #69, slot value $894,600, signs for $1,800,000
Ryder Green, #97, slot value $574,400, signs for either $997,500 or $1,000,000 (2 amounts reported).
Nicholas Northcut, #340, slot value $125,000, signs for $565,000

These guys must really be highly sought after to command so much more than the slot value. Says a lot for the ability of Corbin to keep kids. One site, I believe it was on Banfield, stated right out that the big signing bonus would keep him from keeping his commitment to Vanderbilt. Still, a LOT of highly sought after kids didn't even get drafted. Aside from Kumar Rocker who was rated #15 but got drafted at 1,146, we had 4 five start kids and 6 four star kids that didn't even get drafted. The future looks pretty bright.

That just makes me believe that the reported "slot values" are currently being intentionally low-balled by the league, and thus don't possess much validity anymore. They're running about 50% of real value for the top 100.

I believe, however, that once you go over your team pool, you have to pay penalties of something like $.50 on the $1.
