... after Day 1 of the SEC Tournament projects Vanderbilt as the #2 in Norwich, Connecticut. UConn #1, St. John's #3 and Bryant #4 are the other teams.

With our northeast connections and a relatively weak field, I like Vanderbilt's chances. A trip to Stanford would not be easy, though I am sure the Vanderbilt players would not detour through Nashville to take final exams. Should Stanford lose, the Super Regional could be at Stillwater or Nashville.
Of course, that is all conjecture at this point. While I find it difficult to see the SEC (or any conference in the future) getting 11 spots in a 64-team field, the conference RPI is compelling. The current Top 4 teams in Strength of Schedule are all from the SEC: Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Vanderbilt
With that in mind, the VU RPI could rise throughout the SEC Tournament even though our team is back home.

One Selection Monday choice I would like to see: Tennessee Tech (if it sweeps the OVC Tournament) hosting as a no. 1 seed. Don't know if it has facilities in Cookeville or nearby to host, but I would love to see a team rewarded for 49 wins including a 4-2 record against the current RPI Top 51.

Last Friday was the deadline for schools to submit a bid to the NCAA to host. I hadn't heard anything about Tech submitting a bid, and I wonder if they meet the requirements for hosting. Their stadium only seats around 1,000, which may be an issue. I suppose they could have potentially submitted a bid to use First Tennessee Park, since the Sounds are on the road that weekend, but I've seen no mention of it.Versus75 wrote:

I'd take that draw. Somewhat similar to last year when we had a manageable regional -none are easy- but would have to go through an elite to get to Omaha.
