Sonny shines

Post by Good2BGold »

Per the New York Daily News, Sonny Gray was "brilliant" against the Royals yesterday in the Yankees 10-1 win:

Sonny Gray was brilliant, taking a perfect-game bid into the fifth inning. It ended when Hunter Dozier blooped a single to center with two outs in the frame.

Gray ultimately allowed one run on four hits in a season-high eight innings, losing his shutout bid with two outs in the eighth on John Jay's RBI single to center. He walked one and struck out five. Gray's previous season high for innings was six (three times).

He worked fast and confidently. It was a 2 hour, 31 minute game, even though 11 runs were scored. Major league baseball needs more games like that.
