- Belted three home runs against Tennessee including two in the series opener

- Posted an impressive .684 on-base percentage, helped by four walks and four hit by pitches

- Tagged two doubles and reached base four times on Tuesday against No. 23 Tennessee Tech

- Registered a 1.445 slugging percentage and batted .455 in four games

- Held Tennessee and Tennessee Tech to a .222 batting average two relief appearances

- Tossed three scoreless innings against the nation’s top offense on Tuesday against TTU

- Helped the Dores to a series win at Tennessee, limiting the Volunteers to a hit in two innings on Saturday

Freshman of the Week Nominee

Philip Clarke – DH – 5-11 – 190 – Franklin, Tenn.

Weekly totals: 4 G/4 GS, 17 AB, 3 R, 7 H, 1 RBI, 1 HR, 13 TB

- Batted .412 in four games against in-state opponents Tennessee Tech and Tennessee

- Produced three multi-hit games including a 3-for-5 performance vs. No. 23 Tennessee Tech

- Recorded a double in three-straight games, taking the team lead with 13 in the category

- Lifted the Dores to a series win at Tennessee and totaled 13 bases on the week

Commodore Notes

Vanderbilt posted a 2-2 week, highlighted by the program’s first series win at Tennessee since 2012 over the weekend … Vanderbilt spotted Tennessee Tech six runs over the first three innings and could not climb back, falling 6-4 on Tuesday night at Hawkins Field … The Commodores stranded a season-high 16 runners on base including leaving the bases loaded in the seventh inning … The No. 23 Golden Eagles struck for seven hits and five runs (three earned) against Vandy starter Reid Schaller to pick up their 32nd win in the last 33 games … Vanderbilt connected on three home runs, including a pair from Stephen Scott, and held off a furious Tennessee rally for a 7-6 series-opening victory on Friday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium … The Commodores sent seven batters to the plate in the third, ignited by a leadoff homer by Scott and RBI-singles from Austin Martin and Pat DeMarco … Vandy came up big with two outs, driving in five runs while batting .462 (6-for-13) to snap its six-game losing streak … The three home-run outburst marked the most for the Commodores since striking for as many on Feb. 27 against Austin Peay … Vanderbilt silenced Tennessee during the middle innings and tacked on a trio of insurance runs late to defeat the Volunteers, 7-2, and clinch the series on Saturday night … Starter Patrick Raby settled down after allowing the two runs and six hits over the opening two frames … The Knoxville native retired 12 of his final 14 batters faced without allowing a hit … Raby registered his 200th career strikeout to cap a 1-2-3 sixth inning … The Commodores registered double-digit hits for a third-straight game, upping their season total to 13 with four in the ninth … JJ Bleday got the scoring started with a two-out, two-run triple into the right field corner and Ray drove him in with a double down the left field line … Vandy erased an early four-run deficit but could not replicate the magic late as Tennessee struck for three runs in the sixth to overtake the Commodores and salvage the series finale with an 8-7 win on Sunday afternoon …. The Black and Gold sent all nine batters to the plate, scoring six runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run home run from Pat DeMarco and two-run double from Austin Martin for a 6-4 lead but the bullpen could not keep the advantage intact … The Dores close the regular season with a four-game homestand beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Middle Tennessee … Vandy welcomes Kentucky to Hawkins Field for three games with the opener set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday … Friday’s middle game will get underway at 6:30 p.m. and the finale will start at 1 p.m. … All three games will be streamed on the SEC Network Plus.
