Re: David Shaw Tuesday 9/14 press conference pre-Vanderbilt

Another thing to add to Shaw's claim is teaching talent. I remember talking to some my profs from college, and they said if they could get tenure at any school in the country it would be Stanford, for the quality of living, the beauty of the campus, the culture on campus etc. It's a high powered aca...

Re: Dysfunction at the OC

So our passing game coordinator was an OC for seven years and has play calling experience. Our OC has no experience as OC or at play calling. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Rookie hiring mistakes. Lynch/Raih need to get better in a hurry. Yep, Lea made a rookie mistake: I suspect we have all made...

Depth Chart Col State

It's out.
Without doing an actual side by side comparison, I do not notice a single change from last week.
Hard to imagine how one wouldn't make changes on the offensive line from last week.

Re: Dysfunction at the OC?

This at least provides an explanation. We know that Seals has skills. Just maybe they will get this worked out before next week. If not, bring back Ludwig. He can turn Seals into the weapon that he did Kyle. I liked Ludwig. He uncorked some big games for us. Shurmur was an underrated rare talent, b...

Re: Dysfunction at the OC?

Interesting and not in a good way. Lynch called the plays in the spring game and I was very impressed with the variety and production I saw. Lynch was on def on the sidelines and very actively involved with both qbs. So what the hell happened with Raih? Why was he ever given the title and what could...

Re: From the WayBack Machine: early games in coaching tenures

I agree with the gist of your post and there are some similarities, but a couple of things: Dowhower and Woody arrived in 1995 - and their first game was against Alabama - a close loss and we scored 25 points. The NEXT game was at ND and vandy got blown out 41- 0 (I was there). The 96 season was the...

Re: Some obvious adjustments

Replace offensive co-ordinator. You know, the QB coach has been an OC before. A little bit of internal staff reshuffling might be in order. Trying to replace with an outside hire between game 1 and 2 might be a little bit disruptive. Simplify yes. Concentrate on the plays your unit executes well. W...

Teaching Moment

I never want to hear that phrase again. Now on to the rant Raih - this is what I feared. Actually it's a tad different but the result is the same. Raih has never been an OC - not even close. In fact, based on his resume - he's not exactly over-qualified to be our qb coach. I feared that because of h...

Re: How We Use Wright

Injury. That's why no one would ever take their 2nd string qb and have him in the backfield or our split out wide for more than one gadget play. We only have 3 viable qbs on our roster. You're not going to take your 1b option and make him block or take hits. So as much as it pains us to have one of ...

I was about to post nearly all of these same observations, so I'll just add a few thoughts to yours! Biggest surprises to me: 1. Only 1 of the OL opt-outs is starting (Clemens @ LG) Agree - and to add, Jonathan Stewart is 3rd string. 2. Michael Warden is the starting center (and Dawkins is listed as...

With Derek Green still coming back from knee surgery - they may have moved him inside since he's so big.

Re: Any word on masks Saturday?

Yeah I mean the gates, concourses and bathrooms - some of those are "open air" but I wouldn't assume that in those confined areas you get the same benefit as being outside. Sitting in your seat in that stadium, I don't really see the problem but jammed up against hundreds of people in the ...
