Re: We hardly knew him.
Just think, if he weren't injured, Our previous coach might still be at Vandy, mired in even more losing.basketball. I remember seeing Garland in interviews and in practice. Not in person, but in videos. He came across as having fun playing basketball. He drew the other players to him. .

Re: Isaiah West picks Vandy
Jankovich, McBride, Daniels, Harvey, Frank, Mann and Dorsey were all terrible...far from SEC caliber. A blessing they left and made room for others. That is the point - 7 misses in recruiting over a 2 year period (ignoring Jank and including DeZonie). Those scholarships could have been used on play...

The. PAC12 may not exist in 2 years.
Also, travel would increase costs for all sports, while TV revenue drops significantly.

Re: Vandy not in the SEC/Big 12 challenge again this year
Doesn’t it seem like it’s the same matchups every year? I understand they’re setting it up with 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc., but it seems like it’s always Kentucky vs. Kansas, UT vs. Texas, etc. It would be more exciting, IMO, if they had each team in the SEC (the top 10) matched up against dif...

Re: Football is on deck
I like 4 wins this season and 6 wins the next with the recruits we're bringing in One step at a time in upgrading our football program. Too fast and the school is investigated. I like Lea and think we are doing it the right way. Slowly improve the quality of our recruits. One factor is the amount o...

Re: The Athletic (premium): VU director of recruiting hints that NIL has been an issue in VU departures
this nil crap is inconsistent with what vu's priorities are or should be, while it is quite consistent with those of all the other (large state) universities in the sec. it might get altered somewhat, so we shouldn't move too quickly, but we would have more peers in the acc and would probably be ju...

What is our ceiling in football?
Let's start with the obvious. We will never, ever win the National Championship in football. The odds of winning the SEC East, current version, are so remote that the number of zeros after the decimal point would fill a page. So, what is our ceiling in football? 50/50 in the SEC? I don't know. But t...

Sometimes I am easily confused. This is one instance. Do we still have one scholarship available to give?

Re: Reading WAYY too into it - Dylan Disu back in Nashville
Disu not coming back. The Austin newspaper quotes Beard as being high on Disu.
He was held back this past season to be cautious following knee surgery. Texas coaches think highly of Disu. He grew up in an Austin suburb and always wanted to go to Univ. of Texas.

Suspence
The suspense is killing me. Who will be our guards next year? Pippen, stay or go? Someone or two from the portal? Are the top guards in the portal already deciding their location, so that we will be left with the secondary players. The transfer portal and NIL are not good for blood pressure (at leas...

Darius Garland
Don't forget Darius Garland. He is having an outstanding year. He is averaging 21.7 points per game and 8.6 assists. Not bad for a player who is listed at 6' 1", 175 pounds.

Re: Elite edge rusher visiting Vandy unofficially Friday
Long shot, close shot, no shot, you gotta shoot your shot. All of these threads on recruiting show that we as fans can't ever be satisfied as a whole. Some folks were up in arms that Coach and his staff said they were going to focus like a laser on players within a five hour drive I believe. Now th...

What a mature student!!!! She writes from her heart. Well worth reading to feel the pressures that student athletes face. Even students who are not athletes face many of the same pressures, but generally not as extreme. During my time in college I could never have written a piece so engaging and hea...

Re: Elite edge rusher visiting Vandy unofficially Friday
From Norman, OK? That is extremely difficult competition. Yes, I would love for him to come to Vandy. But, the odds are extremely thin. I am ok with this, so long as we do not expend precious financial resources on recruiting this long shot player. The coaches know best. However, I have seen where t...

Re: OT question
To answer the OP, yes, the player is also the source of information about offers. It's also important to remember that offers often come with conditions. Some come with a deadline by which the player must accept, or the offer is no longer valid. Some schools also say, for example, "We're offer...

OT question
What is the source of the list of offers a player has received? The player? Schools can't list who they have made offers to. So, can a player inflate his recruiting standing by listing bogus offers? " Oh, I have offers from Bama, Georgia, Notre Dame, etc." Can a player game the system to g...

Re: Gino's Post-Game Comments Last Night........
We've been here before as Vandy fans. To me its not a matter of believing or not believing her. Its a matter of UConn being where she came of age, spending four years playing there. She is in the hall of fame there. She spent over a decade as an assistant there. I don't understand at all the argume...
