Re: New commit: TE Cole Spence
He plays for Mount Pisgah Christian in Alpharetta, GA in suburban Atlanta. Three-star who likely would have had more offers through the summer and the fall. A big frame to put some weight on: 6-6, 220 lbs. His 247 highlights are worth a look. Some impressive plays as a receiver, blocker, and on def...

Re: New commit: TE Cole Spence
Welcome Cole!
I wonder if his future is to continue at TE, or transition to DE or some other role?
6-6 250 and quick would be a nightmare to cover.
Same guy at 260ish could create havoc coming off the edge.
Either way this is a good conundrum to have to deal with.

Re: OT: Practical NIL
If a player wants to get paid straight out of high school, there are a plethora of American style football leagues around the world that can and would sign them straight out of high school. These players make it about themselves and what they do for the universities (which is hogwash) and unfortuna...

Re: Disappointed
Also: The Vanderbilt football team does not have an indoor practice facility. Vanderbilt University has an indoor athletic facility to which access is scheduled for football, lacrosse, soccer, intramural sports, and the faculty/staff/students. The football program only has access to the facility dur...

Re: Saben Lee
I'm not sure why one would think that Lee would be a liability on defense. Or that Jenkins would be a better prospect. Jenkins was a great college player and tremendously efficient scorer, but was below average in terms of athleticism for his position, and didn't possess any great passing or ball-h...

Me too.
It is clearly the right priority.
In the end, the program is the players.
Take care of the players and all else will follow.

Re: How many times have I seen on...
I have seen news reports on the weight room and it looked more than adequate. The problems with the weight room are well documented. The capacity is so small that players have to be assigned access to the weight room by position groups. This in turn causes the players all kinds of problems with the...

Re: SB 202
When people talk about boycotting a state they forget that even in the reddest Red State or bluest Blue State, somewhere between 35 and 45 percent of the population votes the other way. Moving the SECCG to Gov Superspreader's state would hurt Gov Slaveplantation a little bit, but it would hurt the p...

Re: Locker room rebuild is underway
There has to be some sensible middle ground between Grand Palace Taj Mahal Locker Room with a personal gold plated platinum bidet for each player and a lame crappy 1983 era weight room that can only accommodate one position group at a time, so the players have to run frantically back and forth betwe...

This is DIFFERENT
I have been a Vanderbilt fan since 1983, my freshman year. I cannot remember a capital campaign for athletics EVER in that time. I cannot EVER remember the UNI-FREAKING-VERSITY putting up actual money to improve athletics - now suddenly the university is in for $100 million. That is $100 million out...

Re: Disappointed
Disappointed. Really? A Vanderbilt fan? Disappointed? Dude, if this is your most disappointing experience as a Vanderbilt fan, you cannot have been a Vanderbilt fan for more than eleven seconds. It has been said hundreds of times by coaches, players, and recruiting gurus that facilities like cafeter...

Noticed the guitar in the background.
Looks like a Gibson.
Didn't know Lea played guitar.

Re: Tennessean Article “Can Clark Lea get...
Lots of good points in this thread. Agreed it's not a given that all of these would be academically eligible, but it's probably a decent percentage. A lot of academically ineligible players would be a lot stronger academically if they had the chance to attend better schools with more attention, bett...

Re: How about those Antelopes?
I think coach clapper just needs to stick to small conference schools. He's been successful wherever he's gone, except that he was terrible here. He was to VU basketball what Mason was to football: take a successful program and immediately tank it. As far as a coaching record, I don't think a compa...

Re: Vandy adds Elon in 2022 and Charleston Southern in 2023
I hate this sort of scheduling. Those games are either super dull, or they are unexpectedly tight and therefore infuriating. Either way, I get no pleasure from them. There is a mild exception for the very first game of the year when you'd really like to see multiple players, but honestly I'd rather...
