Re: Saturday's VU-NC State game declared a no contest: VANDY TO FINALS!

I don't really feel that badly, because I don't agree with the format that requires a team that loses a game in the opening round to win both a play in game and two straight to get to the finals. I think having to play and win the play in game is punishment enough for losing a game in the first rou...

Its no allusion, its personal experience.
I mention it not to be snarky or pedantic but because I already corrected one poster and it undercuts posts that incorporate pride in the school's academics:

Re: I remember this like it was yesterday: Terry Hoage’s immaculate deflection

Nice throw on the run by Page, who was one of the best QBs we have had. I recall seeing a tape of a play recently where he threw a strike across his body while rolling left, and I thought that Cutler was the only other QB we've had who could have done that.

Re: The Reason Athletes want to be paid....

We like to try convincing ourselves otherwise, but the number of our players who give up a Vanderbilt education to transfer to completely undistinguished schools probably reflects players' priorities in general. It will be noted that most players don't transfer, but for every one who does, there are...

Re: US Supreme court just hammered the last nail in the NCAA coffin

Not necessarily a bad thing. Let a small number of institutions run a professional sports league and while the rest return to something approaching their educational mission.

Re: Playoff Expansion

Judging by ND's performance as the #4 seed last year, we hardly need more teams in a playoff.

Re: Any New Transfers In From The Portal?

Teams that are losing more to the transfer portal than they are gaining are going to be losers in the new environment. Unfortunately, it's that simple. The best RB this school has ever had was maybe, sort of, a transfer. Do I remember correctly on that?

Getting a guy named Linus Zunk will definitely ease the pain at having lost Aristole Taylor.

I'm definitely open to expanding the 500 mile target to 5,000 to get a German named Zunk.

Re: OT: Titans 20 NEP 13 Final

NE punted on 4th and 6 from their own 37 with 3:37 left. I think coaches are stuck in an era when three and outs were more common than they are today and hence are too likely to punt in this situation. Defenses are gassed, and after punting, teams often give up a six or seven yard run and a first do...

Re: Vandy adds Elon in 2022 and Charleston Southern in 2023

These are FCS teams. We schedule one FCS team every year, as do almost all SEC teams and, in fact, almost all FBS teams. I'm not crazy about it, but so long as you can have one win over an FCS team count toward bowl eligibility, it's going to be a standard feature and not worth quibbling about. As f...

Re: Vandy Poll: Derek Mason

1, as long as it's the UT game. The day's of thinking like this are long gone. Anything less than 6 wins is a failure now. 6 wins should be more attainable now than in the past for a number of reasons: (1) We have 12 rather than 11 games in which to do it; (2) I-AA teams were rarely scheduled befor...
