Re: Former VU star Chris Marve named DC at Virginia Tech

And I am thrilled for Chris. Couldn't happen to a better person. Agree I've met Chris a couple of times. Great dude and I believe will be a great DC. I got the sense he really wanted the DC position when Tarver arrived. Regardless of Tarver's meh performance, Marve was pretty young both as a person...

Re: Official visitors

No commitment (yet?) from Trudell Berry... he's still officially committed to Marshall, but there was this on Friday... [tweet]https://twitter.com/_trud3ll/status/1466900653108871170[/tweet] Great that he talked with Bennet. Watching his reel - my first reaction was that he reminds me of Earl. Fast...

Re: Cal, with 99% vaccination rate, must postpone USC game due to Covid outbreak

One must only think back to the distant past of 11 months ago when this type of thing was wreaking havoc on rosters and schedules across the country. Now that every football locker room in D1 is 85 - 100% vaccinated, the fact that this type of thing has only happened once or twice is a RESOUNDING en...

Re: VU to require proof of vaccination or negative COVID test for hoops games

I don't know why people are bellyaching about this. Just get the vaccine: it's very safe and effective - especially if more people take the it. It seems like a bunch of people are looking for nefarious political angles around every corner or are just starving for attention or something. Just get a v...

Re: Yet another COMMITMENT!

That's a great one. I was wondering when/if he would commit to us. Glad CCL was able to work the MBA pipeline. Morgan is the prototype for what a VU recruit should be: brains, brawn and room to grow! Also - he's a freakin' baller. Now... let's get Marcel, that water-bug of a quarterback that MBA has...

Re: Athlon Sports predicts a 26-23 Vanderbilt win over MSU

The Poland/Germany comparison was classic - not sure it's a particularly flattering comparison but it gets the point across nevertheless. I think the upset of Japan over Korea with a handful of wrecked ship's in the 1590's (Imjin Wars) is what Athlon must have been thinking. :D No, clearly he meant...

Ha! That's a hum-dinger of a post, right there.

Go Poland!

Re: OT: Jeremy Pruitt vs. UT could get... very interesting!

It sounds to me like plain old extortion. He isn't arguing that he is innocent of the charges, or that UT didn't have cause to fire him, but that if he isn't paid off, he will expose UT to a lot of bad publicity involving more violations involving other programs besides football than has been made ...

Re: Weeks ago

Getting this thread back on topic and responding to the original post re: Seals vs Wright. Both qbs have much room to develop. I give the edge to Seals for the following reasons: he can more consistently throw completable passes and he seems to have a stronger and faster arm. The downside on Seals i...

Heck no to the big 10. I don't get everyone's infatuation with it. The same things we see here, exist up there folks. Besides, we are a southern school, and I DO NOT want to be viewed as a Midwestern school. You think we have difficulty competing here????? Try going up there and playing that ploddi...

Re: Inherited Rosters in 2011, 2014 & 2021

Do you even know what a legacy is? Ever heard of Chuck Scott? I’m done with this before I make a response to your obviously biased agenda that will get me banned. Do you know what a "recruit" is? Until, Derek Mason arrived, Caleb Scott was not a Vanderbilt recruit, commit or signee. His &...

Talk about distortions, Caleb Scott was a Legacy recruit and the QB room was not devoid at the beginning remember a guy named Patton Robinette? Not all world but serviceable enough to beat the ugly orange - after looking around he saw the writing on the wall and said later. Before you claim I’m jus...

Re: Inherited Rosters in 2011, 2014 & 2021

What is inarguable is that Mason inherited a program in a much better state than anything Franklin or Lea had. Even if the inherited rosters were identical, Mason should have had a much easier time recruiting better players in his first couple classes and maintaining what was already there. Frankli...

Re: Inherited Rosters in 2011, 2014 & 2021

2021: Nothing to speak of other than maybe Will Sheppard and Chris Pierce, who else would start for another Power 5, let alone an SEC team? Davieon Davis is a legit P5 player. A lot of these things hinge on who else is on the D-line. Dayo was a heck of a player who drew a lot of extra blocking help...

Thanks for the update. If you haven’t already, check out his video. He’s one of the best, most dynamic players we’ve ever recruited and had a real shot at.
Hearing that he went to FSU vs Nd is heartbreaking. I think he was also here for ETSU. Womp, and might I say, womp.

I didn't mention NIL because I honestly can't tell what it's impact will be. But if the past is any indication, it'll probably hurt Vandy more than it helps.

Re: The state of college athletics is a bad combo for Vanderbilt Football

I agree with this. I was a kid in the 70s and only a passive fan in the 80s, but I've been pretty die hard since about '90 on. What we witnessed on Saturday has become the new normal. The quality gap between Vandy and the top of our conference is so wide, that it seems unlikely it can be overcome wi...

Re: Bring Woody back

The cupboard bare? Franklin inherited a program that had gone 2-10 for two consecutive years. He inherited Chris Marve, Zac Stacy, Jordan Matthews, Kenny Ladler. And went 6-6. There is talent on this team. Maybe not Georgia/Alabama talent. Coaching matters Yes but, Franklin inherited a full roster ...
