SEC Standings afteer Saturday
The SEC standings after the Saturday games could be quite interesting. Some ifs: If TN beats KY If Vandy beats Auburn, Then Vandy is tied for fourth in the SEC, along with KY. To stay with the 4th place crowd, FL has to win at ARK and MO at home has to beat Texas A&M. What a fun year for basketb...

Re: Ranking of Vandy wins
When I started this thread I had no idea that there would be so many diverse and interesting responses. Thanks everyone for your informative and even entertaining personal walk down Vandy basketball history. Each poster had his or her own story to tell. I feel this is the best thread I have ever sta...

Boo Hoo. Blue Misters lose to the Dogs. Cal may be slipping in his buying (oh, recruiting) players.

Ranking of Vandy wins
How does today's win against the Orange compare with other Vandy wins you have seen?
The win I remember most favorably was against Duke, I believe in 1964. I think Duke was ranked #2 in college basketball at the time, but I could be wrong.

Re: OT: AD CSL
To me, this seems to be a strange post. I am working hard to figure out what the poster is trying to say and what is the objective. Is there a hidden meaning or agenda that is not self-evident, at least to me? The poster starts off by saying he or she does not dislike Candice. That sounds ominous. T...

Re: Follow-up from Saturday's Junior Day
I hate to be cynical, but how many of these recruits will actually sign with Vandy? Yet, they all seem to be saying, each in somewhat different words, that they had a terrific time on campus. Maybe their greatest visit ever. You would think by their words that they are raring to sign on the line for...

Re: Mike Wright to Mississippi State
In the US News & World Report, Miss State is ranked last academically among SEC schools. Wright going from the best to the worst academic school is a sad commentary on his priorities.

I win with the most points, oops years. 84 yo, still practicing law and loving it. Vandy Law, class of '65. I remember going to the first integrated high school basketball tournament in 1965 and seeing Pearl High, with Perry Wallace, overwhelm the opposition. In 1964 I saw Vandy, wIth Clyde Lee, Sna...

Re: Report: Vandy has fewest transfers out in first portal window of any SEC school
Maybe, just maybe the players we recruit value a Vanderbilt education - other teams not so much. Also, I should have included in my previous post, that we are keeping players despite not having much, if any, NIL money, especially compared with other SEC schools. I think that speaks to the personal ...

Re: Report: Vandy has fewest transfers out in first portal window of any SEC school
Good for the Vandy coaches, instilling loyalty. The case of aTm may be different. Some of those transfers may be the result of being recruited over, as aTm supposedly had the top rated (purchased) class. Further, the aTm record this past season was extremely disappointing to their fans (as it must h...

Outgoing Portal Leader
According an Austin sportswriter, the team with the most players entering the portal is (drumroll) aTm, with 29 Aggies in the portal. Can't tell if that number is related to Jimbo purportedly signing the overall number one class in 2022. Also, not clear if any starters are in the portal. The Aggies ...

Re: Post-game handshakes
I'm wondering if this is the first time that's ever happened in the history of the SEC. Seriously... is this the first time in the 90 years of the conference that an entire TEAM stormed off the court and not a single player shook hands? it reflects their punk coach. After Texas fired its coach ther...

Re: TCU went 5-7 in 2021 and made the championship game in 2022
The TCU coach, Sonny Dykes, knows how to work the portal. He did that when he was the coach at SMU, which led to winning. He has done the same at TCU. I haven't been able to find exactly how many players he picked up from the portal while at TCU, but it does appear that some key players joined the t...

Free Throw Shooting
There have been some claims that our free throw shooting should be better. That got me thinking as to how much of free throw shooting is actually coachable. So, I did a search on the internet about the worst NBA free throw shooters. Of course Shaq comes to mind as terrible at the line. Wilt Chamberl...

Re: Happy New Year - and a reminder about the Big Ten
If my count is correct, so far the SEC is 4-5 in bowl games. Not exactly overwhelming. I do not like Ohio State, but they should have won last night, except for a blown long field goal. I think their QB, Stroud, outplayed Bennett by a small margin. The Ohio State pass defense was pretty good, until ...

Re: FootballScoop: Tulsa's Jayden Everett to replace N. McKenzie as RBs coach
His resume shows recruiting experience, even as recruiting coordinator at some schools. However, my question/concern is whether he has experience recruiting in the Southeastern states, especially Tennessee, where we get, and want to get more of, the majority of our players.

Re: Another Preferred Walk-On?
I hate to ask, but are preferred walkons able to receive NIL money?: if so we are back to unlimited scholarship days. I just don't see this as a problem. The NIL money will go to players who will make a contribution. Most preferred walkons don't get much playing time. Let's take Alabama as an extre...

OT: Possible national changes in football recruiting procedures
Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports has an interesting take on college football recruiting. Without going through his article in detail, his thought process can be summarized as: The portal has had a serious negative impact on recruiting high school players. Wetzel writes: "Due to the transfer portal, n...
