Re: Kyle Wright to start on the mound tonight for Braves
Wright did not do well tonight. He was ok for two innings (3 hits, no runs), but he fell apart in the third. A leadoff hit to the pitcher, two poor outfield plays, 3 walks, and a bases loaded double ended his start. 5-1 Nationals, and still need one more out. :( He just had very little control. Almo...

Snedeker and List have their work cut out for them
List at +2 (T75) and Sneds at +3 (T99) after the first round of the Open. The good news is that they are doing much better than Mickelson (+5), Tiger (+6), and McIlroy (+8). The bad news is that a player has to be in the top 70 (plus ties) to make the cut, so both are going to need good rounds tomor...

Yaz has best game in his young career
In the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies last night, Yaz went 4 for 6 with a solo homer, a double, 3 RBIs, and 4 runs scored in a 19-2 rout.

Re: Can one of you explain this to me?
I would think one big difference is that baseball players don't declare for the draft. They are either draft eligible (high school grad who hasn't attended college, finished college junior or senior year, or 21 years old) or not. So even if an eligible player is drafted, the player has a choice to s...

Re: Miami, JJ Bleday reach deal
Luckily for JJ, since he is living in Tennessee at the time of signing, there should be no state tax to pay. After his agent and tax, he will keep about $3.88 million. Not too shabby for a young man. Advice, invest about $3.6 of it with a couple of reputable brokers. Florida doesn't have an income ...

Re: Final Mens Capital One Cup standings...
Virginia had 60 points each for basketball and lacrosse championships, 6 points for #5 in tennis, and 1 point for #10 in swimming and diving. I am surprised that lacrosse is considered one of the big sports for this since there are no SEC, Big 12, or PAC-12 teams in it for the men. Soccer doesn't i...

Re: "How the Pirates just saved their season"
The Pirates are right in the mix for the NL Central. If Mets rookie Pete Alonso wasn't having one of the greatest rookie seasons ever (he even won the home run derby last night), Reynolds would have a decent shot at NL rookie of the year. Reynolds has a lot to be proud of, and hopefully this is a gr...

Re: "Reds' Sonny Gray to Replace Nationals' Max Scherzer at 2019 MLB All-Star Game"
It's ridiculous that Bryan Reynolds isn't in the ASG. His .342 would be second in the league if he had another 20 PA's to qualify. He isn't better than the 6 outfielders picked ahead of him. Bryan Reynolds - 222 AB, 38 R, 76 H, 7 HR, 33 RBI, .342 AVG Starters Christian Yelich - 304 AB, 66 R, 100 H,...

Re: "Reds' Sonny Gray to Replace Nationals' Max Scherzer at 2019 MLB All-Star Game"
Cool. That means that 3 Vandy pitchers are in the game (Buehler and Minor). It does seem weird to have so many Vandy pitchers but no David Price. Price just earned his 150th career victory and is 7-2 this year with a 3.25 ERA in 16 starts. He was on the 10 day DL this year, and the Red Sox are only ...

Re: Lt. Dans goes yard twice
He was incredible last night. After the Braves gave up 4 runs in the top of the first, his homer in the first broke the Phillies momentum and gave hope for a comeback. His second homer also killed any chance for a Phillies comeback, turning a 9-6 game into 12-6.

He moved up 8 spots in the FedEx standings, from 36 to 28. He did finish in a 6-way tie for 5th place.

Two Vandy players in All Star game
Both Mike Minor (Rangers) and Walker Buehler (Dodgers) made the All Star rosters. Mike Minor has been a big surprise this season, becoming the ace pitcher for the Rangers at 8-4, a 2.40 ERA, and 2 complete games. I wasn't sure if he could ever make it back to being a starting pitcher after suffering...

I think what happened is that 14 players from that LSU team were drafted, but not in the same year.

Re: Vandy leads SEC in Capital One Cup
Assuming these standings hold up, it will be the first time ever Vandy was the top SEC team. In 2013-14, Vandy had just the 60 points for winning the CWS, while Florida had 84.
The Cup started in the 2010-11 season.

Re: G.O.A.T.?
I was looking back at that 2009 LSU team. While they just lost one SEC series all season (unlike Vandy which lost 2), they had only one sweep, hence the 20-10 record (Vandy was 23-7). LSU was ranked #1 in the preseason and stayed in the top 4 all year. They also had 14 players drafted that year. LSU...

Vandy leads SEC in Capital One Cup
The Capital One Cup awards points based on top 10 finishes in every college sport, and it is divided between men and women. Vandy had 10 points already for the men's golf team top 4 finish, and they added 60 points for winning the CWS. The Cup standings haven't been updated since June 11, but unless...

Re: G.O.A.T.?
Second team to do it in the SEC (LSU also was all 3 in 2009, though you could argue that LSU was just a co-champion that year).
This is definitely the greatest Vandy team of all time. There needs to be more research done to see where they rank among other CWS champions.

In 2009, LSU was co-champions of the SEC regular season, SEC tourney champions, and CWS champions.
