Re: 5-star 2024 D-lineman says he's visiting Vandy this weekend

Has Vandy football ever signed a 5-star recruit? I'm thinking no. Great tease though! He has been offered by every top team in the country. With this player, it would be a miracle for him to commit to Vandy. The Orange crush would demand an investigation. But, Lea is doing a great job in selling ou...

A sign of things to happen over there?

Maybe they are "damaged goods", part of the problem causing problems for Hardaway. If so, will any other team take a chance on them?

Re: Shane Dezonie reportedly in the transfer portal

Jankovic was a last minute recruit. Moyer was CBD's doing. Oton Jankovic got less playing time at Tulane than he got on West End which wasn't much. Let that be a warning to future portal jumpers. The "Morgan Wheat amendment." I'd say Dylan Disu is about as clear a warning as you can get. ...

Re: The Final Four: Who Ya Wit?

I am pulling for Nova. I like their coach, Wright, and the program he runs, with many 4 year players.

Self at Kansas, do not like him at all.

Coach K. He has had his day in the sun.

North Carolina, my second choice.

Re: VC Says Terren Frank Has Entered Portal

I wonder how many of these portal decisions are the result of a dialogue between the coach and individual players. Maybe something like the coach saying: we like you as a person, but it is unlikely you will receive much playing time next year or the following year. You will probably fit better in an...

Re: UT 5-star quarterback

Do they not think that Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M, basically every other SEC team except for Vanderbilt, will just up the ante and pay 5-star quarterback prospects $9 million? Or $10 million? All the other SEC schools (except Vanderbilt) have the resources to get players that ...

Re: UT 5-star quarterback

Who cares about which players UTe recruits? I don't. Over the years they have had plenty of players who underachieved based upon the star rating. What I do care about is the players we are recruiting. Can they upgrade our program? Are they responsible people who will represent Vandy with integrity? ...

You can’t be serious….did you even read my post??? So, you support giving our tax dollars to Russian students instead of US students….WOW!!! I also say "Wow", to the original post and to the response by the original poster. I detest Putin. In my view he is a KGB thug. Yet, not every Russi...

Re: There goes UT

The topic has shifted from UT's loss (HA HA) to a critique of Barnes. My sense is that Barnes is a very good coach, with high standards. UTe does not deserve him. Like everyone (including me) he has strengths and weaknesses. In my view he is not top tier, like coach K or Roy Williams, but is a notch...

Question on player develpment

Actually two questions. 1. Which player do you think showed the greatest improvement from last year to this? I would say it is a tossup between QMB and Wright. 2. If they continue to improve as they have this past year, de either QMB or Wright have the POTENTIAL to play in the NBA? You have to love ...

Re: LSU shouldn't have recieved a bid

It aint the kids fault. LSU showed their true colors. Fire coach at last minute right before tourney after standing by him so long. It won't matter, their basketball program will suffer for years now I do not want to defend LSU. But, I believe from their prospective they knew for some time that he ...

Re: Doug Novak Out at Mississippi State

Coaching at the college level is a tough business. Coaches get paid big bucks and so are expected to produce. Of course football is king. Football coaches at top programs are paid obscene dollars. See Saban. Are they worth it? That is a value judgment. Of course women's basketball coaches are not pa...

OT: Which team do you dislike more?

In basketball, KY or TN? Normally it would be a tossup for me. But, I think Rick Barnes is classier than Cal, so in basketball I dislike KY more than TNl.

Re: UK game thread

What I saw was that KY played great defense, especially on Pippen. Their players are athletic. As the announcers said, KY was prepared to deny us use of the baseline to find open players elsewhere. We made too many mistakes, often caused by their defense, throwing the ball away. The in bound error t...

Re: Disu Should Transfer Back

He has been quoted as saying that he always wanted to be at Texas. In high school he was skinny, so they just did not offer him. So, Vandy became his training ground. Texas accepted him as a transfer after he had put on muscle while at Vandy. Supposedly he is still recovering from a fairly severe kn...

Re: Third Georgia Game Thread

GA is a terrible team, with only one or two quality players. Against us their shooting was awful. Part of that was our defense; part of it their lack of good players. On TV the announcers commented that many of their players from last year transferred out in the (dreaded) portal. That leads me to th...

Re: Last 40 seconds

I thought our loss began before the last 40 seconds. With maybe 3 or 4 minutes to go it seemed to me that our offense started to stagnate. We appeared to want to avoid losing, instead of trying to win. Of course this is a common theme on these boards, and also at other schools. A guard would hold th...
