Re: Digital tickets
I consider myself a real hep cat when it comes to technology. At least for an old guy who was using computers well before windows came along. Back when you had to use a floppy disc to boot up your 286 and 386 so you could use your Lotus 1-2-3 and all. But that's a long story for a different day. Ho...

Re: Digital tickets
I guess this means no more stub hub if the tix have to be through ticketmaster. If the spirit moves you to just walk up on game day, will you no longer be able to go to the ticket booth and buy a ticket? Good question…I may have to go this route in the future, if they refuse to issue hard copy tix....

Digital tickets
Just got an e-mail stating that all tickets will be digital, using some apple phone app. My phone is a bare-bones phone. No frills, fads, or fancy stuff. No apps.
I have a call in to the ticket office to see if there is an alternative plan. I’ll let you know what they say.

Re: Great season but not amazing
Offense went south at a most inopportune time. That’s the way baseball goes sometimes. Watching the Atlanta Braves last night, it was noted that they were considered one of the best offenses in MLB, yet in the previous 11 games, their average with men in scoring position was awful (don’t remember ex...

If VU plays better than MSU, they win, otherwise they lose. Some prediction.

I guess you'd have to follow the money to find the history of the current format ( or the previous format). I have always thought that the ersatz "double-elimination" tournament should be a real double-elimination affair. Hell, in the current format, the ultimate winner could have four los...

Barry McDermott of Sports Illustrated. It was after the first Alabama Game in 1974. (not in '67, as I stated above) VU was undefeated and Alabama had one loss. " By a critic's standards. the performance had everything: a surfeit of SEC drama, big plays, rallies, and enough action to tie slip kno...

From a Sports Illustrated article about a VU BB game in 1967 that we won in OT..."Their Breath wouldn't have fogged a mirror."

As much as I loathe UTK, it is my understanding that Peyton graduated with a 4.0 in accounting, which isn’t exactly basket-weaving.
Of all the UTK athletes, he is the one I could almost like.

Wotta game
Who’s their #2 pitcher? Surely not as good as Williams. Who was phenomenal. Fortunately our best was better than their best. Both guys probably made a couple of million extra dollars with this game. What is the MLB draft order, and when is it?
Congrats to the Vandyboys!

I think it’s like this:
Seeds 1 and 2 are division winners. Then seeds are by overall conference record.

Aces and Spaces
In the game of bridge, you can evaluate your hand by the point count before bidding starts. Aces =4, Kings =3, queens =2 and jacks=1, for a total of 40 points in a deal, distributed amonsgst the players. There are nuances, but you get the drift. Our baseball team is like the dreaded hand in bridge k...

one-and-done might be best for all concerned. That way we have a completely rested pitching staff starting the regionals.

Re: Transfer Portal
Probably leaves out the most important reason, especially for high-performing, impact players: increase in salary/benefits. The under-the-table $$$ potential for cash-induced transfers must be HUGE, in total probably exceeding the GDP of many third-world countries.

Re: Curious
I imagine there are arcane and complex rules about how and when to designate starting pitchers, but it seems a lot of game-playing can be done with naming, then changing, the starting pitching.
