Re: Tampa Bay Rays

I’m not sure how well moneyball systems work in basketball vs baseball. The difference in raw physical attributes between all-star baseball players and ones just barely hanging on to major league roster spots is still really small. I don’t think that’s true in basketball where 1 or 2 dominant player...

Re: Great Game!!!

Yes, What an exciting game, back and forth. Great win. However, the refs' behavior during last less than a second seemed bizarre. It appeared that the refs wanted to show who was really the star of the show, the winner. Themselves. Manjon's drive to the basket and to score with 0.8 left was fantast...

I was a sophomore that season. I hope you’re wrong. That team was unbearable to watch most of the time.

Re: Italy All-Stars

Thanks for the recap, Jason. I watched most of the replay and don’t disagree with anything you wrote. Who was #13? I don’t see one on our roster page. Guard positions are a concern for me, also. A rotation of Manjon, Lawrence, Shelby, Lewis and Thomas is not awe inspiring for me right now. If we cou...

Re: Keonte Kennedy

Stute has been playing the 4 all along. The 4 these days is more like a wing than a Karl Malone type player. As long as he can defend a post and rebound, I don’t really care where he scores his points.

Re: Transfers we are looking at?

I hope Patterson has a good career at Auburn (except against us 😜). But if there is one thing we don’t need next season it’s 5-11 guy with athleticism that would seem to make him a defensive liability and without enough quickness and ball handling to play point.

Re: New 2022 offer: PG Paul Lewis

The 5 PGs are Thomas, Lawrence, Shelby, Manjon & Lewis. I didn't say how good any of them are. If Lawrence & Thomas aren't good enough and won't get much PT, why would they stay? They have been recruited over. Lewis may have played in a tough conference but he is still rated a 3-star. I wou...

Re: New 2022 offer: PG Paul Lewis

With signing Manjon I thought we would really have the opportunity(since Pippen left) to find someone who was really a big-time scorer. I am sure Lewis is a great kid, but in the days of the portal & NIL the landscape has changed. Lewis will not help I don't think in getting us to the next leve...

https://247sports.com/player/paul-lewis-46098483/ Lewis played for Bishop O’Connell (which is about 3 miles from my house). Same athletic conference (Washington Catholic School Athletic Conference, or WCAC) as Gonzaga (Stute), Paul VI (both Roach and Keels from this year’s Duke team), and DeMatha (o...

Re: Based on my current understanding

Lawrence and Thomas have not show the ball-handling chops to start, IMO. I think a better lineup would be Shelby, Wright, Stute, Robbin and QMB. Q really impressed me with his defense and rebounding the last 1/2 of the season. Lawrence and Thomas for when we need to go smaller/quicker. I like Lawren...

GWU to Georgetown in DC is about the same distance as Vandy to Belmont (1.5 miles west heading to G’town). G’town actually plays at the Capital One arena, which is about the same distance from GW the other direction (east).

Re: Next Year's Guards

Yes, if SJP leaves we better hope Shelby is ready for prime time. I haven’t seen anything that makes me think Dezonie, Lawrence or Thomas could be a calming ball handling presence is the face of pressure. I’d almost rather see Wright do it than those 3.

Re: Celtics signing Luke Kornet for the rest of the season

I don’t watch a lot of NBA, so I only have stats to go by, but both Nysmith and Saben Lee seem to have regressed this season. Nesmith’s numbers are materially down: minutes, PPG, FG%, 3pt% etc. Lee seems to be getting in the game infrequently too. I know Detroit drafted a PG early so the finances sa...

Re: 15 to 4 on offensive rebounds?

I noticed that too. I watched the game. I’d actually say we did a good job of boxing out. To be fair, a decent number of those were long rebounds where you were better off on the outside than inside. Combined with the fact I saw several blatant push offs by SC that weren’t called probably accounts f...
