Re: Two good days for Brandt

For those that pay attention to professional golf and the exploits of Brandt Snedeker: Brandt is playing in the Wyndham tounament near Greensboro, NC. This is the final regular season tourney of the season. On Thursday Brandt fired an even par 70. He needed to get going if he wanted to make the cut ...

Re: Two good days for Brandt

Golf is a difficult game, especially on the courses the PGA plays. When Brandt rejoined the tour last month after a long time off (and major surgery), he knew it would be challenging. He has had some successes - making the cut at the Memorial in Ohio; a good second round in the tournament last week;...

Re: Two good days for Brandt

Winners of PGA tournaments qualify for the next Masters tournament. Since this 3M tournament is in July, if Brandt wins, he would be eligible to play in the 2024 Masters. Lets hope he has a great weekend. Go Vandy!

Two good days for Brandt

Brandt Snedeker just completed round number two at the 3M Championship outside of Minneapolis. On his first round Thursday, Brandt shot a bogey-free 64, with seven birdies. He was tied for second place after playing a brilliant round of golf. During round one, Brandt made over 100 feet of puts, whic...

Re: OT: Big Bad John Ingram

When I first moved to Nashville in 1974, I lived in the Melrose area about a mile and a half from the racetrack. On the weekends, if you were outside at a pool or on a patio, the race-car noise was deafening. I totally agree with Mr. Ingram. As far as a racetrack for this area - promote the one out ...

Re: Snedeker Returns to PGA Tour

Brandt had a pretty good day on his first day back on the PGA tour. He shot a one-over 73. 3 bogies, one double bogey, and four birdies. He hit a lot of good shots and the round could have been a little better with some luck. Memorial is a tough course. 4 under is leading as of now. Notables that ha...

Re: Mizzou #3

Perhaps a bit off topic but... Futrell's delivery reminds me of Steve Avery's. Avery pitched for the Braves several years ago with Smoltz and Glavine. Futrell's ball comes in with a twist that is hard to connect with. I don't think he throws a straight ball typically. He is fun to watch if you are a...

Re: UUT

Amazing how Florida Atlantic rebounded. They have several players on their team that can really jump. Plavsic is a very dirty player, and the refs were watching him closely. Lots of credit to FAU for staying with their game plan. Go Vandy!

Re: Vanderbilt-Michigan NIT Thread

Lot of credit to Ty Lawrence. In the last 5-6 minutes, he willed his way to driving and scoring. Made baskets and got fouled. Michigan knew what he was going to do and he still did it. Lawrence helped keep Vandy in the game until they could work miracles in the last minute. Incredible run over the l...

Charles Davis still lives in the Nashville area and attends the VU basketball games. A very humble person who still follows Vandy hoops closely. He was a great player in his day. Go Vandy!

Re: Vandy-Kentucky SECT thread

Got to give my wife credit - she hexed KY on all their free throws and they missed a bunch! Missing FT's actually got in their heads in the last 6-7 minutes. Even Toppin missed two. A huuuuge win for Vandy. Very fun to watch Lewis have such a great game. The big three - Lawrence, Manyon, Wright - ha...

Re: IMPACT ON RECRUITING?

Vandy has been recruiting Travis Perry pretty hard. Travis, a prolific scorer, and his family attended the January 24 Kentucky game at Memorial Gym (a VU loss). They sat right in front of us and several VU coaches came by to say hello to Travis. I think the game that Coach Stack saw was the Lyon Cou...

Re: Vandy-Mississippi State thread

Random observations: When Manyon got the ball, MSU basically backed off - they knew he would get past them. Ezra had 7 assists, no turnovers. There were times in the game when the maroon shirts were each about 3-4 inches taller than the VU players (except for Q). The number of "over the back&qu...

Re: Vanderbilt-Kentucky game thread

Got to give Stack lots of credit. Vandy gets the ball with the game tied and the clock winding down. The team looks to Stack for a time out, and he motions them to play on and trust their stuff. I think that rattled Kentucky and they were pretty spread out when Jordan made his move. The Tennessee wi...

Re: VU at SC game thread

In the post-game comments, Coach Stackhouse said Vandy "executed the game plan to perfection". Admitted they missed a lot of open shots, but that happens. Very pleased with the win. Lots of praise for Robbins and Manyon. Coach Stack said they had been going for nine straight days and they ...

Re: Florida

Castleton is a talented player. He has a deft jump hook shot with his right hand that is nearly impossible to block. If he can get the ball around 6-8 feet from the basket, with space, he will make many of those shots. I hope the "twin towers" can offset that, but also double-teaming him e...

Re: Tennessee in trouble

The orange fans are having a meltdown on their VolNation site. Grousing about Phillips' decision not to dunk on his breakaway and Vescovi's missed front end. Complaints about Barnes. Actually gave a lot of credit to Stackhouse for "outcoaching" UT. I will enjoy this win for a while. Go Van...

Recruit at last game

Sitting in front of us on Tuesday night was Lyon County, KY four-star guard Travis Perry. He was with his family and several of the VU assistant coaches came to shake his hand. Perry is a Junior (Class of 2024) and is a scorer. As a sophomore he averaged 27.5 ppg. Has reported offers from Iowa, Purd...
