Re: No charges for Miller

I know zero about Miller other than being a fantastic basketball player. But, he needs to be more careful about picking who he spends time with away from the court. He’s lucky he didn’t end up with a stray bullet hitting him. The guy who owned the gun (not the one who used it--who Miller may not ev...

Re: NET and efficiency rankings

Just curious. Is our win over Pitt of no value? The Team Rankings . com says our odds of making the dance are as follow: With 18 wins: 65% (not sure I buy that) 19 wins: 94.4% 20 wins 98.9% 21 wins 99.9% To get to 20 wins would mean winning out (including at Rupp) plus a win in the SEC-T 19 means w...

Re: Big trouble for Alabama's Brandon Miller from January incident

Local Montgomery news just did an interview with a cop in Tuscaloosa. He said there was no law under which they could charge Miller. I am an attorney and think if I was a DA I could find something to charge him with. I’m definitely not an attorney, but I feel like any rational person who had a frie...

Re: Does the NET Rating kill our NCAA chances?

Committee looks at how you finish and also should take into consideration robins being injured for few games The committee changed their rules a couple of years ago. They now no longer value late-season wins any more than early-season ones. They are allowed, however, to consider injuries. And I thi...

Re: I missed the game again

I don't know if Robbins is a NBA prospect, but some consider Broome, Smith, Tshiebwe or Castleton NBA prospects, and know that Robbins is outplaying all of them right now, and doing so by a wide margin. That's interesting. To be honest, none of them are really NBA prospects. The only one who is men...

Re: Ranking of Vandy wins

This is a good win. We've had better. Top wins (off the top of my head)... Beating #1 Kentucky in '93 Beating defending champs UCLA in (I think) '95. The NC State comeback to reach the Sweet 16. The 92-55 thrashing of Kentucky. Beating Anthony Davis in the SEC Finals (as was already mentioned) Beat...

Re: Ranking of Vandy wins

Sometime in the early 80s; win over then #1 Indiana. The team had been very mediocre for years and it was something of a coming out party. Beating eventual NC Kentucky in the SECT was big, but Vanderbilt was pretty good that year so it wasn't as much a shock as this one. I'd graduated and moved to ...

Re: Not about Stack

It was pretty bad when I was a freshman in the early 80s. The game was dominated by athletic 7 footers and Vanderbilt had a hard time recruiting them. CM Newton knew the 3 point line was coming and he was ready. Having to defend the perimeter opened up the game for bigs like Will Perdue who didn't ...

Re: Report: VU "easily" handles Xavier in secret scrimmage

Intriguing. I mentioned in the GT thread that I was slightly disappointed by the loss if true, though admitted that one must take secret scrimmage reports with a grain of salt. If this one is true, it bodes well. Xavier is picked #13 in CBS Sports’ preseason top 100 And 1 (Spoiler alert: VU didn’t ...

Re: Saben Lee traded to the Jazz

Believe Lee has ended up on Raptor’s G-league team. Stack must still have some sway in the league. Well Stack certainly still has some with the Raptors. He spent 2015-16 with them as an assistant (when they made the Eastern Conference Finals) and then coached their D-League team to a title in 2016-...

Re: Remarkable--Matt Ryan to make the Lakers' roster

Back to the original post re: Lakers' roster. Did Pippen make it? Yes, he did! He played only two minutes last night, making a pair of free throws after the game was already decided. But he’s on the team. Damian Jones got a DNP and Matt Ryan got 18 minutes (3 pts, 1 reb, 1 stl, 1 t/o). So we have t...

Re: Carter Lang news

Says he models his game after Jokić, which we'll take ;) - I can see that based on his passing ability and range in the highlight reel. We'll see where this class ends up, but seems like we have some guys whose stock should rise in their senior seasons and fill some needed roles. Future looks good ...

For what it's worth, ESPN has Isaiah West listed as a four-star recruit, ranked #63 in their Top 100 recruits for 2023.

Re: Jace Posey visit

Nice. He seems like a very solid prospect, who could contribute immediately on defense. He is certainly a great athlete: In May he broke the Texas state record in the high jump by clearing 7'4.25". That made him the #1 high jumper in the US. And obviously I remember his dad well (although he wa...

I don't know whether everyone is aware of this, but John Jenkins is playing for the US National Team in the FIBA qualifying tournament this year. He led them in scoring in their game yesterday. The first round had six games spread out over eight months, with two games in November, two in February, a...

Re: Some stats from today's game

I agree...the bigs REALLY need someone to work on their skills. It is not so hard to post up and use the magic box(small square above the rim) for a little bank shot! Don't these guys practice all year round(not as a team) but individually??? If they are not at least a little bit of a threat then t...
