Re: Top remaining commits after 10 rounds

(Don't know what the mlb.com guys saw in Barczi that perfectgame did not, but I'm hoping he's good. Could be future starting catcher. And maybe Holcomb told mlb to take his name off the draft board and that's why he's not among their Top 250 players.) PG is a for-profit baseball association and not...

Re: Big transfer pickup #2: IF Jayden Davis from Samford

Davis was the #1 rated shortstop in Tennessee coming out of high school, with a tremendous arm. Played 2nd base at Stamford, but could play short, if Corbs wants to make a switch. This one is very interesting. Kid wanted to be at Vandy out of high school. No spot available. Went to a solid academic...

That was a draft leverage play. Odds are very high (I'd even say, almost certain) that Galanie never plays for the Vols.

Yep. Two-piece Demarini Goods. Looked like a custom team-issue one also, since it was black.

Re: Maybe it's the bats...no, the actual "bats"

Hops, from your summer/travel ball perspective, does the brand of bat make a significant difference? And what do you mean by "get hot as they age"? I'm assuming all of these high quality bats cost roughly the same; do the major college programs have to purchase the bats or do the companie...

Maybe it's the bats...no, the actual "bats"

After watching the CWS this weekend, I noticed something interesting. TCU and Florida are the only two teams swinging Demarini. Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Stanford were all swinging Louisville Slugger. Oral Roberts swings Easton and Virginia swings Rawlings. LSU swings Marucci. After the implementa...

Re: Next year's roster

Quick correction, Clark is from Franklin, Indiana. Max will be a high draft pick and will sign. I don't think there's any doubt about that one. Thomas White is interesting. He's definitely on the MLB radar, but there are rumblings that he will be a hard sign because of his Vandy commitment. This was...

Re: thanks to the team and the coaches

I’ve seen it mentioned several times that we have offered several high school underclassmen. Can anyone offer a few examples or is this just hearsay? That’s quite a claim to make if you cant back it up….it wouldn’t make sense to tie up some of your 11.7 scholarship money in this manner. This is a l...

Re: thanks to the team and the coaches

Agreed. We definitely out-performed the talent level on this roster. That's a testament to the coaches. We've just had way too many misses in recruiting. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the new rules preventing contact with recruits prior to their junior year will save Corbs from himself....

Re: Congratulations to RJ Austin

Austin and Chris Maldo really got hot for the week. Great sign moving forward. If we could get Schreck to get hot again, we would be in really good shape. Arms that were healthy looked good this week. Always need to get some of those younger arms that don't get used as much into the game. If Holton ...

I'd also love to see Ginther here. Love the way he looks right now. Could be wrong, but that's who I'd go with.

I'd give my right arm to have a "Mason Hickman"-type available right now. Or a Richie Goodenow.

Re: In Corbs We Trust!

Vanderbilt is not the only SEC team with injured pitchers late season: could it be the conference. What do big leagues do,? A quick search revealed that in 2017, 87% of pro teams had at least 1 pitcher who required surgery. It seems to be a common problem. Due to , well pitching. My personal opinio...

Re: In Corbs We Trust!

Quite possibly the best on-field coaching of Corbin's career. Honestly, we have some talent, but we should not have been close to 19 SEC wins with this roster. Just being honest. He did a great job. I do have one significant complaint, and it is becoming a trend; whether it is Brown or the strength/...

Re: Rocker Signs with Rangers

Another big Vanderbilt donor is born. Happy for him. The Mets screwed him royally. I hope he gives them some payback on the mound. I don't know, Don. Maybe. Maybe not. What would be their motivation to screw him over? If they were wrong, I tend to go with the incompetence angle rather than the evil...

Re: Carter Young signs with the Orioles

I keep seeing people surprised at the amount. For an MLB team, that is "pocket change". They had the pool money because they couldn't sign their 3rd-round pick. Had McLean signed, CY signs for $100k and moves on. In short, signing for such a high amount isn't about CY or what the Orioles t...

Lesko Rumor

I was talking to an area scout last weekend at East Cobb. We talked a bit about Lesko. He said that there is a lot of talk in scouting circles about the Braves taking Lesko in Round 1. The rumor is that the Braves motivation with their trade last week was to grab an extra 1st round pick. That way th...

Love Flash and think he would succeed here. That being said, Godwin at ECU is Corbin's successor here...and it's pretty well known already. Godwin was only here one year and that was a LONG time ago. Erik Bakich was here for 6 years. What makes Godwin the automatic pick? Don't know all the rational...

On the flip side of our players in the portal, Zane Denton of Alabama just entered the portal. From Brentwood, middle-of-the-order bat. Plays 3B, where we will have an opening with Diaz moving to SS. And, before signing with the Cardinals upon being drafted, his brother was a Vandy commit. The famil...
