Re: Transfer portal
Again, I like Casas. But, this year was awkward. We lost Hunter Owen and some didn't develop as expected (Young, Reilly, etc). I think there are some attitude issues, as well. We have a large group that will be pushing to the MLB, soon. This improves the brand/appeal. Anchor Down, young fellow! I'v...

Re: Who's coming and who's going?
Looking at the 2022 recruiting list, it looks pretty solid but I know there will be 2-4 guys that opt to go straight to the pros. Here is the list: NAME XIV Stars POS. Dylan Lesko 5 stars RHP Andruw Jones 5 stars OF Brandon Barriera 5 stars LHP Noah Schultz 5 stars LHP Andrew Dutkanych IV 5 stars R...

Re: Transfer portal
There will be a LOT of Vandy players in the transfer portal this year. If prior years are any indication, I'd expect 7-10.

Re: Corbs Vanishing Act
It wasn't me that Corbs yelled at either...lol. But I know for certain they are coaching their players to take pitches. And before anyone asks, no, I'm not going to dox the players that told me. It's not a conspiracy. And many coaches use the same tactic and coach that way. My personal opinion is th...

Re: The Committee
I think Corbin needs to take a serious look at Scott Brown & Mike Baxter, both of whom i like. And i know they're his guys. But something HAS TO change. I wish Baxter was doing better, because I like him a lot. Brown should have been gone a long time ago. He doesn't know how to develop pitchers...

...certainly a tough time to focus on swing reconstruction this late in the season. Chances CY is our shortstop next year? Exactly. Very tough to retool a swing mid-season. And I think there's a good chance he is the SS next season. He was in a tough spot. He wanted HRs, and had two options; revamp...

Re: Carter Young
I have thought since last year after his injury he has not looked like himself. I hope he can overcome whatever has been hurting his performance whether it is injury related or confidence related. I like all these kids and want to see all of them succeed. I'm rooting for him as I am all the Vandy B...

Re: Former Vandy assistant Travis Jewett fired at Tulane
I honestly think he comes back to Vandy. Pretty soon, we will have the ability to hire more paid assistants. TJ would be an ideal target, especially as a recruiting coordinator. Personally, I think Corbs, Brown and Baxter are all too similar. Vey straight-laced, and almost up-tight. Jewett is the fi...

Re: Women softball program
Vandy would not have to look for space nor build a softball field. There are softball fields already in Nashville. In order to to truly compete at softball and make it a legit SEC program, Vandy would need a stadium on campus. Being land-locked makes that tough, but there are some options. That bei...

Big News Coming from NCAA Soon
While it's not official yet, it does look like the NCAA will be revamping some rules with regards to college baseball. We are hearing it will be announced fairly soon...which could be next week or it could be in a month. Not sure. But it looks like the 11.7 rule for NCAA baseball scholarships is abo...

Re: 2021 stats vs 2022 stats
Young is the epitome of what happens when someone reads their draft profile. After one-year, he was an MLB prospect that was "glove-first" who "lacked power". Once he found out what scouts thought of him, he decided to completely revamp his swing and try to hit HRs. Last year, i...

Re: I'll buy this isn't a talented/mature enough team
Corbs doesn't want to lose. He wants to win. He just doesn't have a team right now that can digest the Analytics. He uses them way too much anyway, and this group simply can't handle it. I can guarantee that the Tennessee hitters aren't up there thinking "in a 0-1 count this pitcher throws a sl...

Re: Dylan Lesko Sore Arm
Question for you are familiar with recuperation from TJ surgery. Is he likely to have the most successful path toward healing in college with conceivably a light use freshman year or in the minors where he might be rushed into action ? 12 months of no competitive pitching, at a minimum. Will be an ...

Re: Dylan Lesko Sore Arm
A perceived arm injury could get Lesko to campus. But if so, he's probably going to have surgery and not be ready for a year. He is a special talent. I'd love to get Jones on campus, but that will be nearly impossible. One amazing factoid, and I expect it will change with Hassell/Xavier Edwards/Lawl...

Re: A college baseball player's take on hitting struggles
Good discussion here. CPerk, thanks for the insight. As noted, I believe we've profiled hitters poorly over the past few recruiting cycles, and it's finally caught up to us. As for the taking of pitches, my opinion is that comes from an over-reliance on Analytics. Analytics are great for players tha...

Re: Bat Sticker
Hop, here's what I don't understand: if there is this strong of a suspicion that somebody is doing something wrong, why isn't the conference or the NCAA stepping in and actually testing the bats? In the other thread, somebody said (maybe you, I can't remember) that the bat with the missing sticker ...
