Re: P Andrew Dutkanych says he intends to go to Vandy
I am very excited he is going to be attending Vanderbilt, but I still think if I was a top high school pitcher, I would keep all my options open. You let teams know what your number is (and everyone should have one), and if you don't get it, then follow through with college. No need to limit your ch...

Re: NBA draft is tonight
I HATE THE NBA. A BUNCH OF OVERPAID Sorry, Mr., i couldn't resist. I do hope SPJ has a long pro career, but i don't see him as prototypical NBA. NBA players are overpaid? A few are. What about tonight's late first round draft pick his first three years? 1.6 million a year then a bit more the next t...

Re: Article about our baseball transfer situation
Notre Dame having as many as 8 upperclassmen / grad students on their 2022 roster is a telltale sign of the drawing power / devotion to it from their ballplayers .... the most prestigious Catholic University in the nation. I am not Catholilc .... but it is an undeniable fact programs like Notre Dam...

Re: Article about our baseball transfer situation
It is difficult to tell how the NIL and transfer portal will shake out, but I think that this season is still being impacted by the COVID pandemic and the draft shakeup the past two years. There are a number of other teams that have a lot of players that would not be on their roster under normal cir...

Re: ESPN article about Barriera shutting down his season
This goes back to what I mentioned in an earlier thread: If you are a prep pitcher that can command first round slot money, you probably should take it. There is no guarantee with a pitcher that the money will be the same or better after 3 years, no matter how good Vanderbilt or any other program do...

Re: Transfer portal
Casas got 6 starts at the beginning of the SEC season and hit .136….that doesn’t look like what you want to see out of a starting first baseman. Little never should have graduated early as he didn’t appear to be mature enough to handle the demands of playing in the SEC. I don’t believe he ever foun...

Re: Irish Win
Thoroughly enjoyed the Irish win. I know ND chaffs a lot of fans of a lot of teams including a few VU fans, but... even if that's you, take solace in knowing that losing to ND inflicts as much pain on UT fans as almost any other team. They HAAAATE ND. Also, agree with the criticisms of Vitello. He ...

Gilbert should be suspended for tomorrow's game. It would be so appropriate for their season (and his career) to end with him in street clothes because he is a classless #$$&0L3.

Re: Ben Howland @ MSU
Being written he too is gone. The SEC has gone mad this year with MBB firings. Do all schools expect to make NCAA every year? Impossible, do the math. Howland went 0-1 in his only NCAA appearance in 7 seasons at MSU. Frank Martin went to one NCAA (although it was a Final Four) in his 10 seasons at ...

Re: Shocker out of Athens: UGA to hire Florida's Mike White
Why is this a good move for him? I honestly don't know. This could be a similar situation to Josh Pastner at Memphis. He had completely worn out his welcome at Memphis. By taking the Georgia Tech job, Pastner was able to extend his career with 6 mediocre seasons at Tech. And Memphis came out the bi...

Thinking ahead, the real issue would be playing the fourth game on Saturday on short rest (7:00 PM Friday, 2:00 PM on Saturday).

The main problem with that is that I believe you only get one free transfer, but if he transferred anywhere again, he would have to sit out a year.

Re: MLB Lockout Draft Implications
While it would be great to get potential Top 5 picks on campus for 3 years, I am not holding my breath. My guess is that if there was no draft this year, some of the top players may opt to go to JC, so they would be eligible for the draft next year. You could also see the MLB make an exception if th...

Re: Slightly OT: The Kumar Rocker Rule
I thought that there is a rule similar to that already in place, but Rocker (and Boras) did not have an examination conducted before the draft, so he had no recourse when the Mets refused to sign him. What would be different about this rule?

Re: Calipari doesn’t shake Stackhouse’s hand, blames it on Covid
I also have noticed that the Women's team does that as well. After the game, the teams just wave at each other, rather than shake hands. I don't know that it makes a difference for players in the game, but it does keep you from being exposed to the benchwarmers at the end of the bench.

About two minutes in to hear Also, "I said let's just try to beat the crap out of these guys.. they'll go away." He definitely was complaining about the screens, but I think that quote was in reference to how physical we were and the fact that some of his players didn't handle it very wel...

Re: The Athletic (premium): Tampering going on in the college football transfer portal
It will probably take a couple of years to work itself out, but I think everyone agrees that changes need to be made. Everyone knows tampering is rampant, and coaches would really like some guidelines. One suggestion I saw was limiting the period where one could enter the portal, so that coaches cou...

Re: If Wade or Pearl coached Vanderbilt…
To your credit, many of you seem to differentiate between Wade and Pearl -- maybe one or two even agreeing with me that Bruce's "sin" wasn't a mortal one, that he's paid his debt to society as it were and is a great coach. The rest of you should just admit that you mainly hate Bruce becau...

Re: If Wade or Pearl coached Vanderbilt…
I think Pearl is the type of coach that you hate if he coaches against you, but you love if he is your coach. I thought the violations at UT were rather minor, and you could almost overlook that, but there were also issues at Auburn with assistant coaches that got Auburn put on probation, so I think...
