Re: Fall roster released

It looks like one of the deeper pitching staffs Corbin has had, and that's saying something. Perhaps there isn't as much "elite" talent, but plenty of guys who will be day 1 draft picks down the line. The infield...well let's just see what happens. I don't know where the runs will come fro...

Re: Stack gets a contract extension

I think the program is slowly turning back, but I just don't get this. 3 years, one mediocre season and two bad ones, and we're picked 12th in the SEC this year. Talk about taking advantage of a low bar.

Re: Carter Young signs with the Orioles

He got $1.325 million drafted that low! No wonder the Os suck. That is just insane. O’s are 2-3 games out of wildcard, 2 games over .500 A whopping 1 game over .500 and 17.5 games out. And the best farm system in the game under Mike Elias, who is now in his 4th season with the Orioles. He built the...

Good for him...seeing him at LSU would have put a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: Ryan Clifford

Imagine the NFL, NBA, or MLB with every player on a 1 year contract and no salary cap. That's what college athletics has become. The situation is not sustainable. I don't think it is sustainable at the ridiculous level we are seeing now, but competing at the highest level is not sustainable if you ...

Re: Ryan Clifford

LSU just got the Air Force Catcher we were in the running for. I have no idea what LSU's NIL budget was (or Tennessee), but we cannot compete if we don't play the same game. The transfer portal is bad enough, but in the next couple of years it will trickle down into recruiting. I suppose if that hap...

This class is officially a disaster. We lose more sheer numbers through the portal than we bring in as freshmen. Meanwhile, UT, LSU, and Ole MS have first rounders transferring IN>

Clifford got a million. There are multiple sources reporting that figure.

Millbrandt got $1.5m and has signed (as expected).

Re: draft Carnage and portal impact

Not totally sure we lose him. Slot is $746,800. He is a 3 star. If he comes in and does well he could improve on that. Plus, does he want to sign for slot and make $400 a week, ride buses, and stay in Motel 6's for the next three years, or come to Vandy and be treated like a king with no worries fo...

Anyone remember when Bryce Drew said he was taking Vandy to the Final 4?
At the time, that was far more believable.

Re: draft Carnage and portal impact

It was 5. Three were obvious, but we lost two guys on the fence- Stewart and Schultz. We still have a good class, but we are lagging badly in the transfer portal where LSU and Tennessee were prepared to offer NIL deals for proven talents. Dark clouds are looming for this program. I admit that I had ...

Re: What Goes into Conference Membership

I don't think the SEC is looking to kick us out because Nashville is such a great city in the regional landscape. That said, this is a business about putting eyes on the TV screen where it generates the massive dollars we are benefiting from now. Realistically, Vanderbilt does next to nothing to dra...

Buzz out there tonight is Noah Schultz is also telling scouts he is headed for Vandy. Could be negotiating, but he is another huge piece of this class, ranked borderline top 20 by some.

Re: P Andrew Dutkanych says he intends to go to Vandy

At 32, we may see him on campus. Slot value last year was $2,257,300. 17 was $3,609,700. If you are coming off TJ and can't pitch for a year, $2.2m is a no brainer. Lesko will likely go higher than that as he was the top arm in the class coming into the year. As for Dutkanych- much needed. He is dr...

Re: Carter Young to LSU

I take this as an indictment of Mike Baxter and the lack of faith in developing hitters. Carter went from a first round probable to a .210 hitter who struck out all the time.

Re: Christian Little transfers to LSU

Heck of a portal haul for LSU. Lots of teams making gains with that route. The Ole MS starter yesterday came out of the portal, and UT has done very well for themselves in the past couple of years.

I know Corbs prefers to recruit and develop, but it's tough to see it going on around us.

Re: Commits for 2022

We're going to get crushed in this draft. We have done better than most regarding guys with top 50 grades, but top 20 is a different ballgame. Rocker and Leiter come to mind recently, but for every guy like that you get, you lose 10.

Tournament Streak is in Jeopardy

Remember 16 days ago when we had a 18 game win streak and were ranked #2? Seems like forever ago as we have since endured the worst stretch in a decade. Looking at the back loaded schedule, added to deficiencies across the board, and I don't see how we win very many SEC series. Florida is in a simil...

Back to the original post here- I know what you were saying, but I think we learned a little more about Reilly and he is on the verge of cracking the rotation with more consistency in longer outings. Corbin is always weighing what is to come in June and not necessarily what happens tomorrow. Some th...
