If you are referring to Mason, he will be back next year. Williams likes him. The new AD will not be on the job in time to fire Mason before next season.

Re: Georgia trounces Vandy, and thoughts

The TV announcers said that the average weight of the Georgia offensive line was more than the Atlanta Falcons. I don't remember their average weight, but it was something like 325-330 pounds. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Our defensive line was, what, maybe 35-40 pounds less than the Geo...

Re: Band??

The bands from the historic black colleges sure know how to put on a show. They are so entertaining, with their quick marching and strutting. The total opposite of the Texas A & M band, which I find boring (although many seem to like it).

Pete was pretty sly. Sorry, surprised someone had not already said it.

Re: In case you were wondering about Yanni Wetzell...

Can he defend the post and rebound? That's what the team needs. You raise valid questions. Recently we have had some physical specimens who were not SEC caliber players. Other necessary qualities include quickness, foot speed, court awareness, tenacity, fearlessness, as well as other qualities. I h...

Matt,
How good is Nesmith? Will he be starting within a short time after the season starts? To me he is intriguing and the most unknown of the Vandy players.

Re: I've seen enough of Mason

I like Mason. I think he's done a few good things that many other VU coaches haven't. Went to a bowl - finished a season at .500. Beat UT twice. Not saying I'm happy with today but I'm not going to say Mason is worthless either. SCAR looked pretty good today. They're better than us. But if Mason is...

Re: Game of the day--Old Dominion beats Va Tech (#13)

How about West Point taking #5 Oklahoma into overtime in Norman?
Or Texas Tech leading #15 Oklahoma State in Stillwater?
Or Kentucky beating #14 Miss State?

Yes, Old Dominion over VaTech was the most shocking of all.

Nebraska - ouch

Now 56-3. Will Nebraska be looking for a new coach sooner, or later? This will take them to 0-3.

You know...I have heard the song...seen this dance before. First I did go complete & send in form. But this to me is more BS....how many surveys etc have they done in the past over the years. Just open up that file drawer from the past!!! Smoke & mirrors another stall tactic to give the app...

Re: An invitation from Zeppos seen on twitter

Maybe because of years of frustration we sure do have some cynical fans. On this board there have been numerous complaints that Zeppos doesn't care, even though he goes to many games. Zeppos' reaching out has to be a positive sign. Let's not respond with hostility. Maybe the lack of stadium upgrades...

Re: Saturday Down South: ND coach blasts VU for 'bad football'

He says it is legal. Then he says it is bad football, whatever that means.

How about the constant holding by his linemen? That is not legal. Is it also bad football?

How many players played

It seems to me that in the first three games we got better as the game progresses. One reason might be is that we have more depth and are playing more players. If true, then the players may be more rested by the third and fourth quarters. Early in the ND game I thought ND lines were pushing ours aro...

It has just come to my attention that you mentioned this and referred to me. I didn't see this originally. If this is how you feel, then I will stop posting on this site altogether. I am sorry you are upset. If you are referring to me as being upset, not true. Please don't take your marbles and go ...

Re: Paycheck games

In reading this, I would intuitively think the teams competing would largely dictate the financial terms of the arrangement. The better the teams, the bigger the payday. That doesn't appear to be the case though. For example: WKU getting $1.35 million at Wisconsin Coastal Carolina getting $1.2 mill...

Re: ESPN.com Coverage

ESPN axed the majority of their writers. As I understand, their new model focuses on multimedia, scores, and synergy with all their television shows. Apparently, those draw the most page views, and its much cheaper to produce. Fox Sports did the same thing. Some of ESPN's best talent and other nati...

Re: Paycheck games

We paid Nevada $900k!? Let's just do a home and home That sounds good in theory. However, I would say we had an open date this year that we had to fill. Nevada was available. There may not have been any other teams available, except perhaps at a higher cost. In subsequent years there may not be ope...

In December 2017 the University of Texas hired him to be their AD. Apparently he received a 7 year contract. No way do we get him to walk away from that contract. We could not afford a bidding war with Texas. Not going to happen.

Replacement for Williams

One of the statements made in connection with the resignation of Williams as AD was: his contract "...expired on June 30, 2018, but the Vanderbilt administration convinced him to stay one more year during the search for his replacement." That struck me as odd. Prior to June of this year th...
