Re: Contemplating the great recruiting class

I quite disagree. Obinna and Baptiste may not have been Rick Robey and Mike Phillips, but both would have forced defenses to guard the two with enough defenders to stop an easy post move that both were good enough to perform. Because two of them would have been in the lineup, the perimeter would ha...

Re: Offseason Update: Player Weight Changes

How long will it take Shittu to get into game shape? He has had a long road to recover from his surgery. He has gained weight, maybe too much given that he may not have been working out intensively. I am excited about Shittu, but don't want to get carried away. After all, he is recovering from major...

Re: Favorite Sports / Please Rank

I think this whole topic is rediculous. What does it have to do with anything? Myself, I like to see competition. Whether it is basketball, beach volleyball, baseball, tiddlewinks or bridge. It does not matter. It is all about humans and our ability to win, lose, deal with adversity and more. :?

Re: 4 Star Anchors Down

I think it is great that we are getting commitments from good and very good "athletes". My concern is that we are not getting very commitments from linemen. Those are the guys who open the holes for the athletes to produce, in my view.

Re: POS

I'm curious - why is it of more interest that Cousins may have some personality conflicts with teammates than the original point of how this affects ex-Dore Damian Jones? Is there real interest in the NBA Warriors franchise 2,200+ miles away or am I missing something? Anyone watching the Summer Lea...

Re: POS

All very true ... but there is a difference between knowing how you need to act and being able to follow through. Pretty much throughout his career Cousins has been his own worst enemy. It will be interesting to see.[/quote] I agree that he has been his own worst enemy. On the Warriors Draymond and ...

Re: POS

[As for the personality bit? I don't know, man. Those guys aren't going to be threatened by him at all and he needs them far more than they need him. Maybe it works, maybe not. But at $5.3 million? For a fifth current all-star (making them the first team since the '76 Celtics with five current all-s...

Re: POS

For some time I have questioned whether DJ has the ability to be productive in the NBA. Physically he has the tools. In contrast he does not have good hands and does not yet understand the game. I hope I am wrong.
My favorite recent Vandy big was Festus.

Re: Jayden Harrison Commits BOOM!

We have received commitments from several nice athletes and position players. Not many linemen. We need the "uglies" in the trenches. Linebackers too. What are our prospects for those important positions?

Re: 2019 Updates

Like hearing that. 25 years of watching Vandy have made one thing tremendously clear: We *always* have guards and shooters. It's when we recruit good 4s and 5s that our fortunes have the potential to change for the better. Jaiden Delaire: 247:86, Rivals: 71, ESPN: 80, Composite: 110 Tre Mitchell: 2...

Re: Jeff Roberson added to Warriors Summer Leauge team

Why sign with the Warriors though? So his style fits, but they already have those positions filled. If I was a FA, I'd be looking to sign with the worst teams in the league. I doesn't mean he'll end up with the Warriors in the end. Another team could still sign him, it's just the Warriors would get...

Re: Jeff Roberson added to Warriors Summer Leauge team

I hope he plays well enough to earn a contract. The Warriors value defense, especially switching on the perimeter. The word I have seen is "agility ". Does Jeff have the agility and lateral quickness to guard a 1, 2 and 3, then quickly switch? I have only seen him on tv and not in person, ...

Re: Supreme Court ruling regarding sports gambling

My understanding of the case is that Supreme Court ruled that the Federal government can't regulate what is in the domain of the states. Therefore, it is up to each state to allow or disallow legalized gambling within their borders. Although there will be tremendous pressure in each state's legislat...

Re: ACC to propose expanding NCAA tournament by four teams to 72

Unless all basketball teams are in the tournament, there will always be "bubble" teams who feel they are overlooked and should be in. Every time the number of teams is expanded the length of the season is increased for those teams in the tournament. Where does this end? The logical conclus...
